Gilbert Arenas is engaged! Despite having a real diamond ring, he was nervous about proposing to his girlfriend. Agent Zero arranged a date with Melli Monaco all the way to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. To pop the question, he kept frantically searching for the right spot. Ultimately, the NBA legend ended up proposing to the love of his life in the most unusual spot—an elevator.

Arenas recalled feeling scared and nervous before the proposal, continuously praying that his old knees wouldn’t fail him during such an important moment in his life. At the same time, he couldn’t help but wonder about the ‘what ifs’ of his proposal while he had the ring in his pocket. That’s when the two got into an elevator, and the idea struck him. He went down on one knee to pop the question, confident that even if he were to be rejected, they were alone.

“We went to the Eiffel Tower so I’m like alright right under the Eiffel Tower and then you look start looking at everybody this shit its too embarrassing then we hit the restaurant like everybody is going to be watching this too classy this too embarrassing right so we got on the elevator and was in the elevator by ourself like yeah cuz if she say no I’m by myself,” Arenas said on Gils’ Arena podcast.

Later, in an Instagram post, Monaco confirmed her answer. However, netizens were somewhat harsh in the comments section, with many questioning whether the ring was real.

Fans hinted at the incident when the Washington Wizards legend had previously replaced his girlfriend’s diamond ring with an old one and later got sued for it. Once again, during the show, Arenas addressed these questions.

During his relationship with Laura Govan, Arenas proposed to her with a diamond ring worth $400,000. However, the two broke up the day after the proposal. It seems he works harder than a financial advisor. Agent Zero devised an elaborate plan to win Govan back, swapping the original ring for one worth $10. Arenas detailed the entire story during an interview with DJ Vlad. He was successful in it. 

Arenas claimed that he initially gave her a real ring but later changed his mind. “The first one was real yeah just the way the behavior was I was like oh no you ain’t worth this unfortunately so I had a fake one created,” Arenas said.

Most comments on Monaco’s post asked about the ring. His fiancée quickly shut down the skeptics by confirming that she would have said yes even if the ring was fake. It appears Arenas is finally ready to exchange vows with the French singer.
