Are NBA analysts ruining the legacies of legends with their uninformed takes? Gilbert Arenas thinks so!

The NBA season is still two months away, but there is no shortage of content, especially from Gilbert Arenas and the crew. His crew member Kenyon Martin recently called out Skip Bayless, Stephen A. Smith, and other analysts for determining athletes’ legacies this week. Arenas even said he would rather prefer to listen to die-hard fans over any analyst.

Gilbert Arenas put Martin on the spot by asking him for a scouting report on a couple of players he had faced. Impressed by the former Denver Nuggets star, Agent Zero explained his thought process. He claimed that people who have never played the game would find it hard to pick out the intricacies of the play.

So, you’re judging everybody’s legacy on something you have no idea, you are a viewer,Gilbert Arenas said, via Gil’s Arena. The former Wizards star continued, “At this point, to be honest, I trust a die-hard fan over an analyst because I know a die-hard fan watches every fu**ing game every fu**ing minute.” He also called out the analysts for not watching the games entirely. A few months ago, NBA champion and ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins also put the Inside Guys on notice.

The former Celtics star criticized Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley for not following the Knicks during the regular season. Gilbert Arenas had a similar problem. He said, “You didn’t watch the game from top to bottom unless you have a favorite team… I can’t trust your opinion because I know you’re not watching the game full mode.

With this, he again reiterated the point of trusting a fan over any analyst. On the same podcast, in an early segment, they discussed how much power the media giants like Stephen A Smith & ESPN have in dictating player legacies.

The NBA’s 75th-anniversary team came out in 2021, and the super team missed the Superman, Dwight Howard, who was arguably one of the best centers the league has ever seen. And the exclusion did not sit right with Kenyon Martin, as he called out analysts who could vote.

“As athletes, we have a problem with Skips, the Stephen A’s, these people… you’ve never laced up and you don’t know what it took for these guys to become who they are,” said the 46-year-old. D-12’s resume speaks for itself with an 8x All-Star selection, 3x DPOY awards, and most importantly, an NBA championship. Gilbert Arenas even said that the players are upset with the decision.

“100% of athletes are still wondering how did you make a 75 list without Dwight Howard.” The list was determined by former players, current players, and a few media personalities. So, it’s hard to pinpoint how Howard missed the selection. But, the constant criticism from Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith towards players doesn’t necessarily put them in the good books of certain players.
