The Kentucky Wildcats are making some big moves for their 2026 recruiting class already. Coach Mark Pope and his staff have wasted no time, offering top talents like Anthony Thompson and Ikenna Alozie. And now, they’ve set their sights on Alijah Arenas, son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas. Excited much? Well, you’re not alone. Melli Monaco, Gilbert Arenas’ fiancée, is fully on board.

The 34-year-old YouTuber’s reaction? Just three words on Instagram–“But of course.” Short and sweet, but it says all about her agreement with the decision on Kentucky’s end and her happiness about the move. The reaction feels right as at 6’5” and 188 pounds, Alijah is ranked as the fifth overall prospect in the 2026 class by 247Sports. This with a five-star rating to his name. But rankings only tell part of the story.

As a freshman, the 16-year-old almost averaged a double-double in the season. He dropped 30.3 points, grabbed 9.0 rebounds, and managed 1.6 blocks per game across 27 outings in his freshman year. And then came his sophomore season, where he took things up another notch–33.0 ppg and 8.6 rpg over 35 games.

It’s no surprise he’s already received 19 offers from top programs like Kansas, UCLA, and Arizona. And now Kentucky’s offer just adds another badge of honor to his collection. The move comes after Arenas’ impressive start to his Junior season as well. And Monaco was there, extending her support for Alijah’s impressive debut game.

Monaco is proving to be more than just Arenas’ fiancée—she’s a true pillar of support for his kids, too. If you’ve been following their journey, you might know their love story started in the most unexpected way. Monaco, a popular YouTuber, first spoke to the former NBA star during one of her livestreams. Imagine the surprise when Arenas asked her out right then and there.

Fast forward to July this year, and Arenas pulled off a magical proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Monaco matched his energy, later giving him an engagement ring at a party. Since their engagement, Melli has fully embraced her role in Arenas’ family. On November 10, she showed off her proud stepmom vibes on social media, hyping up Arenas’ youngest son, Aloni.

The seventh grader is already making waves with the Compton Magic Premier Grassroot Program. She posted a video of his impressive skills, calling him her “mini sniper.” And that’s not all—Moncao’s also got her eyes on Hamiley, Arenas’ daughter, who plays for Notre Dame High School.

Sharing Hamiley’s highlights, Monaco cheered her on with, “My boo EATIN.” And now, Alijah Arenas has been the latest recipient of affection and support from his father’s finance.
