Ja Morant is currently facing heat again, this time getting fined for flashing a gun gesture during a game. The backlash hasn’t died down, but surprisingly, Gilbert Arenas has stepped in with support. While many are criticizing Morant’s actions, Arenas seems to be defending the young star. Their situations aren’t identical, but Arenas knows what it’s like to face this kind of attention. He stepped up to defend Morant’s actions, questioning the league’s consistency on gestures.

On Gil’s Arena, Arenas didn’t hold back. “It was a Super Soaker 3000,” he joked, mocking the league’s concern. He questioned why certain gestures were treated differently. Arenas even compared Morant’s move to others, saying, “I’d be afraid of Stewart doing this (pointing) vs. Ja doing this (gun gesture).” It sounds like Arenas sees this as overblown. He appears to empathize with Morant—maybe because he’s lived through something similar.

Well, he was once suspended for pulling a gun on a teammate, but years before that, it seems he had done something similar. But at that time, it was a BB gun that he ended up shooting. What more? He did so in the most unpredictable setting: A gun meeting!

Just recently, a clip surfaced on Instagram, where Arenas opened up about the past incident. With Nick Young beside him, Arenas recalled wild stories like shooting Young with a BB gun during a gun safety meeting. “He shot me with a BB gun in the gun meeting,” Young said, still sounding stunned. Arenas admits it instantly: “I shot, I shot this motherf*****.” It was chaos. According to them, the officials just kept talking as if nothing had happened. Somehow, no one stopped the madness.

Young describes everyone’s reaction: “They looked and said, so, um… yeah, don’t bring guns, make sure you sign up.” However, it turned out there was a whole different reason behind Gilbert’s actions. He revealed, “They came to the crib and shot me while I was asleep.” Moreover, Arenas even found a BB gun in Young’s locker room the very next day. While no one said anything to Arenas, who had just exacted his revenge, Young shared the conclusion he came to: “That’s when I knew he had power.”

While he hinted at regrets, it wasn’t about the weapons. It was about pushing a teammate into a power play. That’s the piece Arenas truly seemed to regret. And why wouldn’t he? After all, the ‘harmless game’ eventually led to multiple players bringing in guns to training, as ridiculous as that sounds!

“It was about calling his bluff”: Gilbert Arenas’ locker room standoff

Back in 2009, Gilbert Arenas found himself in one of the NBA’s most shocking scandals. Years later, he opened up about it with stunning honesty. What started as a card game on a team flight turned into a full-blown locker room standoff. Arenas admitted previously that it wasn’t just the money; it was the energy, the tension, and maybe a little pride. “I’m already hyped because there’s $1,100 in the pot,” he recalled, describing the vibe before it spiraled.

The game, booray, got intense. Arenas jumped in while teammate Javaris Crittenton was already losing. That’s when things heated up. Crittenton was furious about the odds, thinking he was set up. “He’s all heat,” Arenas said. “This is bulls—! How you gonna get in the game now?!” The tension didn’t stop there. After JaVale McGee won a hand, Crittenton got even more agitated, and Arenas threw gasoline on the fire.

Their exchange quickly crossed the line. Arenas joked about burning Crittenton’s car with him inside, saying they’d find an extinguisher afterward. Crittenton clapped back with a death threat. That’s when Arenas took it further. “Man, I’ll bring you the guns to shoot me!” he said, and shockingly, he did. Two days later, Arenas showed up with four unloaded guns in his locker.

He said it was about proving a point, not about debt or danger. “It was about me calling his bluff,” Arenas explained. But Crittenton wasn’t bluffing. He pulled out a loaded gun, scaring the rest of the team. While others ran, Arenas stood still. The fallout was swift: both were suspended for the season, and Crittenton’s career never recovered. Arenas has also talked about how it was getting back after the suspension. However, what began as a joke nearly turned tragic, and we are glad things did not escalate further!
