Gilbert Arenas has a new objection. Turns out even a Hollywood production house isn’t safe from ‘Agent Zero’. Recently Arenas was seen mocking Hulu’s new docu-series, Clipped. The show is based on the infamous Clippers scandal back in 2014 which led to its former owner Donald Sterling being banned from the NBA for life. Having had a closer seat to the incident, Arenas has faults to highlight.
10 years into the incident and we have Laurence Fishburne playing coach Doc Rivers and Ed O’Neill portraying Donald. Although one might seem to find the casting weird, the highly talented duo nailed their respective role. However, that was not enough for Gilbert it seemed as if he wasn’t happy with the script.
In a clip shared by ‘basketballcoverage’ a scene from the series was revealed. The scene showed how tough of a coach Doc apparently was, initially calling out the players for using their phones, while also making nasty remarks against the players. This didn’t sit well with Arenas who called “cap” on the script. He said, “i never played for doc but imma call cap…phones wheres mine, my tee time is ready.”

This wouldn’t be the first time a former NBA player has called out the series for deviating from the actual incident.

Previously on JJ Redick’s podcast, the former Mavs star and Jamal Crawford, who are represented on show, spoke extensively of it. They were on par with the casting inaccuracies and Crawford specifically about the inconsistencies in the narration. Chris Paul was another who pointed out that his wife’s scene with Sterling’s wife never really transpired. However, Crawford accepted that it was all for entertainment purposes.
The incident, the series is based on, panned out on a rather large scale to involve some of the notable names in the league. So much so that the shockwaves even reached the White House.
Barack Obama’s message to Silver’s NBA
Silver who didn’t even complete 3 months at his office had a full-fledged disaster to manage. With the news reaching the White House, the problem became graver. When questioned about the incident, Obama said, “I suspect that the NBA is going to be deeply concerned in resolving this,” further stating that the nation was trying to fight the legacy of segregation.
Now with all the pressure on Silver, he had to find a way out. The trouble arose in knowing he couldn’t remove a franchise owner from his position quite easily. But Silver was forced to think faster, for, the matter was only escalating.
As the days passed, the players reportedly received calls from relatives asking them to boycott the league. Silver then ideated that other owners could vote out Sterling from the NBA. That is exactly what happened. All 29 owners of the NBA teams voted together to get Donald out. The incident surely was a dark time in the NBA’s recent history, but it did stem out the faults.
