Gilbert Arenas is giving love another chance. Having been separated from his ex-wife Laura Govan for over a decade now, it seems the former NBA star is finally ready for a fresh start on the journey to married life. First seen with the YouTuber Melli Moncao in a collaboration video, it has been quite some time now that Arenas has been dating her. And the latest update has it that the status may change soon. Not just yet, but soon.

As per an IG post featuring the two, Gil has now placed a ring on the 34-year-old YouTuber’s finger. However, that apparently hasn’t been met with a ‘yes’. “The Eiffel Tower is Where it happened, She said nothing… I guess i was so nervous, i asked and answered… yes… for her… so im technically engaged to myself at the moment… @mellimonaco still waiting…” read the caption to the post. The Eiffel Tower proposal makes sense, as Monaco has got a full back tattoo of the monument.

This is a huge step for the former Washington Wizards star, considering his story associated with the last ring he bought.

Notably, the former NBA star’s separation with Govan had not come easy for the ex-couple. If anything, things actually turned quite nasty amid the procedure of things. This also included Gil getting the ring back from Govan, for which he once claimed to have paid  $395k-$495k. “When we broke up, I’m like, ‘That was a f***ing waste of money. I want my ring back,” he said on an episode of VLAD TV. But how did Laura so easily agree to return the ring amid such a nasty break up?

Well, she did not. Gilbert Arenas revealed he switched the ring with a fake one when he got the chance. The fact that Govan filed a lawsuit to get the ring back on the grounds that Arenas robbed her shows how frustrated she was with what Arenas pulled. “I used the ring money to pay for all the lawyer fees. I was like you can keep taking me to court I got about three more cases until I tap into my own money,” Gil said on VLAD TV. With all that was said and done, it’s now time for him to move on to new beginnings.

Owning 4 YouTube channels as of now, Monaco gained social media popularity after her song War gained significant reach. It was followed by another song that went viral — Marché’ (walk) — the next year. Since then she has released multiple tracks.

However, the 34-year-old gained the attention from basketball enthusiasts after her collaboration with Arenas last year, as mentioned earlier. The video featured the two of them in a friendly 1v1 basketball match-up. What started off with Arenas reportedly taking his shot with the YouTuber during a live stream was soon at a stage where Monaco was even hanging out with Gil’s kids.

She shared an IG post featuring her photos with Arenas and his children on the occasion of father’s day. “Happy Father’s Day to this beautiful human @no.chill.gil Such a supportive daddy… Missing part of the tribe due to ⛹🏾‍♀️⛹🏾,” she captioned the post. Part of the caption was a reference to Alijah and Izela’s absence because of their practice sessions. More seems be on the way for the Gil-Monaco family.
