Rashad McCants has been in the limelight for the past few weeks. It started with him bashing Stephen A Smith for his comment on the late great Kobe Bryant. Stephen A said that he believes Kobe shouldn’t be placed as the #2 greatest basketball player of all time and McCants took it upon himself to defend the late legend’s legacy.

After several back and forth’s with one another, Stephen A jumped onto the next person talking about him. Meanwhile, Gilbert Arenas stepped in, taking shots at his colleague, and is now embarrassing McCants on his platform.

Arenas was on a live stream, watching an episode of his podcast, the Gil’s Arena. In the episode, McCants can be heard talking about his defense and taking on people one-on-one. Although the two work together on the podcast as McCants shares the podium with him, Arenas talked about his tall claims on the live stream. Arenas said that McCants is “crazy” for challenging him to go shoot outside. The NBA veteran believes that his colleague will not be able to hold up to his end of the claims if they take to the court.

He said, “You know how he always talks about defense. He always talks about defense like he’s a great defensive player. I read his pre-draft coming into the NBA. He was not a defensive player.” Laughing at McCants’ claims, Arenas said that he knows how much truth is actually there. Having known McCants for a very long time, he is aware of his strengths and weaknesses, and playing defense is most certainly not his strength.

The NBA veteran also revisited some old clips of the two practicing together and looking at the footage, he couldn’t control his laughter while also mocking McCants in the process. He said that even when they were warming up, putting up some shots, McCants was talking big game. Arenas said, “I told him, I’m not shooting, I’m just getting warmed up. He took 20-something shots before this.”

It is safe to say that there is no bad blood between the two as they still work together. So anything that Arenas said on his live session must’ve been said to tease McCants over some outrageous claims that he made.
