Gilbert Arenas is upset with the official report by Team USA. Understandably, many are disappointed with Kawhi Leonard’s withdrawal from Team USA for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The official statement by USABMNT stated the Los Angeles Clippers star has shown great improvement during the last few weeks before the Olympics in Las Vegas. Agent Zero believes that the reason cited in the report is not true as the player was actually in Costa Rica.
The report stated, “Kawhi has been ramping up for the Olympics over the past several weeks and had a few strong practices in Las Vegas. He felt ready to compete.” Arguing about this particular comment, Arenas demanded the association to reveal who was training the 2x NBA champ.
He further argued that many have already watched Leonard enjoying his vacation in Costa Rica as per a few photos shared by Los Angeles Clippers writer Joey Linn. “Over the last several weeks? who’s been training him of USA Basketball? We seen he was on vacation… We seen him in Costa Rica chilling. So over a few weeks? You’re lying,” Arenas asserts on the Gils’ Arena.

He opines that the 6x NBA All-Star’s knee injury might have been still impacting his performance and that is why he was let go. “Just say he wasn’t equipped yet to even participate,” he asks of the committee instead of giving ‘fluff’. Leonard had undergone surgery for his torn ACL in 2021, and last year assured his fans that he had recovered and was good to start his game.
However, he missed the last 8 games of the regular season because of his knee injury. USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill confirmed that Boston Celtics star Derrick White will replace the Los Angeles Clippers star. Leonard will be preparing for the next season as wished for by the Clippers. “I want to thank Kawhi for his commitment to the USA Men’s National Team,” Hill said.
As he exits, the starting five is still a massive question for the star-studded roster and a first-timer’s boldness in the midst hasn’t missed many.
Gilbert Arenas talks about Anthony Edwards’ bold claim for his Olympic debut
Whether it’s for injuries or not, Leonard won’t be making his Olympic debut this year. However, this is the first year for two other stars, Stephen Curry and Anthony Edwards. It is only natural the starting line-up becomes a wonderment for spectators.
Initially dismissed, the idea of incorporating a young force into the team is gaining traction. Could the answer lie with the youngest player on the roster? Anthony Edwards believes that he is the “No. 1 option” for Team USA. While many agree with Anthony, others believe NBA veterans like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant should lead.

Agent Zero, however, holds a different opinion. He suggests Curry should be first, followed by Edwards, with James, KD, and Embiid rounding out the lineup in third, fourth, and fifth positions. He is worried about whether Coach Steve Kerr will apply a similar strategy. Agent Zero has high hopes for Kerr and the team and so do the fans.
