Is Kevin Garnett overhyping Anthony Edwards, or does he see something we all missed?

They not us, they themselves! just like we not the 90s, the 90s not the 80s, 80s not the 70s,” Gilbert Arenas spoke on a podcast alongside Dwight Howard. DH12 stated that the comparisons are becoming a problem. During the same podcast, the former Washington Wizards star might have taken a shot at Michael Jordan and also at a Boston Celtics legend.

It all started when Anthony Edwards voiced his opinion of the previous generation of players not being skilled. According to the Wolves star, MJ was the only “skilled” player in that period. A rival of Jordan and his close friend, Isiah Thomas and Magic Johnson, rightfully defended their era. Kevin Garnett too tried to teach Ant-Man a history lesson and said,” I don’t think anybody in this generation could’ve played 20 years ago.” Gilbert Arenas very much disagreed with the sentiment.

You’re cappin,” even the crew of Howard felt, “it’s not true.” Gilbert Arenas continued, “The reason I did it is because the ni*** that was guarding me didn’t know what the fu** was coming and they couldn’t give it back to me. I’m giving you 39, my best competition giving me 19.” Further elaborating, he stated that the current generation of players is more evolved than the previous generation.

These guys, these guys are a triple version of me. who’s guarding them KG? I’m sorry.” Arenas said. Although he did not doubt Garnett’s defensive abilities doing that game after game might have been a problem for the 2004 league MVP.

Just last season 38 players averaged 20 points or more in the NBA. When Gilbert Arenas made his debut in 2001, the total was 27. And when KG was the MVP, the number of scorers averaging 20 or more was 22. Certainly, from the point of view of Arenas, the game has changed. To the extent, that he even questioned MJ’s relevancy today.

Gilbert Arenas doesn’t find merit in Michael Jordan’s comparison with LeBron

What’s your perspective on:

Is Kevin Garnett overhyping Anthony Edwards, or does he see something we all missed?

Have an interesting take?

Expressing his bold stance on Dwight Howard’s Above The Rim podcast, he said, “He’s not real. He’s real today, but the only people that bring him up when LeBron James’ name gets. That’s the only reason Michael Jordan’s relevant,” Gilbert Arenas stated. It was LeBron James who was dubbed as the chosen one to replace MJ and his legacy.

Even crossing the 40,000 points mark, the Lakers star is standing tall at that summit alone. That’s why when fans or veterans need to compare their skills and they can’t find any in the current generation, they go to His Airness. That’s what Gilbert agreed with as he further added, “They’re combating the stats the greatest like once LeBron James is solidified like you’re the GOAT, Jordan swindles.”

Gilbert Arenas has no problem with MJ being the GOAT. In fact, he has him featured in his top 5. Jordan, James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Magic Johnson. Even added Stephen Curry to his top 5. So, now his top 5 is composed of six players, and Gilbert Arenas doesn’t want to change it. But, it’s the constant comparisons he has a problem with.
