Gilbert Arenas, the former NBA point guard, is a proud father. And, why not? The 3x NBA All-Star has coached his elder son Alijah and is now getting the fruits with multiple college offers as a five-star recruit. His 19-year-old daughter, Izela Arenas, too, follows her parents. She has won a CIF Open Division championship playing for the Sierra Canyon. But what is this newfound pride for the former Golden State Warriors player? His 13-year-old son, who with his shots has taken the internet by surprise. And fans can’t hold themselves away from the conversation either.
Gil’s contribution to the court during his time needs no mention. But for the NBA great, coming back to the court to see his younger son following in his footsteps is a moment to be proud of. The 7th grade Aloni Arenas is the second youngest in the Arenas family. Confident in his basketball skills, the young Arenas continued to play his natural game, unaware of the fact that he would be the talk of the town.
In a viral video, Aloni could be seen pulling the shots successfully at his will—not once, twice, but every time he is there! His three-pointers, including the smooth ones from the corner, and an impressive chest pass at the end of the clip have forced everyone to talk about this young genius. Reacting to the viral video, Agent Zero of the Washington Wizards tweeted, “How I’m looking at Lavar Ball MVD trophy.” The reference to LaVar Ball seems to come from the similarity he has with the business tycoon’s kids.

LaVar Ball, the co-founder of Big Baller Brand (BBB), has all three sons on the basketball court. And with all of them making headlines, the athlete-turned-businessman believes he is the Most Valuable Dad, on a lighter note. But there is a competitor. With the two elder kids already doing well in the court and a promising third Aloni taking the internet by storm, Gibby feels he is going to be the MVD now! And fans too joined the debate!
Fans discuss if it is time for Gilbert Arenas to get the MVD
For fans, besides the MVD debate, the former Wizards’ is a great dad and rare. Because not all parents are investing enough interest in shaping their kids, which results in a lost opportunity to produce a good talent, feels this fan. Her emotional tweet reads, “This is hilarious. We need more great dads in society. The absence of great parents and family members has damaged so many lives.”

But is it that easy for the Los Angeles-born legend to get the MVD? Opening up a debate, and fans not suggesting, when has that happened last? Never. Someone serious in the thread suggested, “Better start working on that right hand, Gilbert,” referring that both the sons are lefty, so to get the tag, make one of them righty. You find it challenging? Wait for the real challenges then!
Talents have never gone out of comparison. And it didn’t go unnoticed here either. Lapping up the banter, a fan commented in the viral video, ‘Gil coming like Lavar Ball,’ referring to the kids of the two seniors getting into the basketball court. But again, not everyone is here for comparison. LaVar too has people to defend him!
Oh, it is not that everyone is a Gibby admirer here. A critic tweeted, “Nah, disqualified. You were in the league, Lavar never was. He’s still up.” According to him, the road to MVD was hard for the businessman, as he did not play in the NBA. So for the 43-year-old to claim that tag is a far cry, as the road is always smooth for ‘insiders’. The serious debate is yet to stop, though.

Gilbert Arenas might have claimed the trophy out of a joke, but some fans have taken it seriously. A few of them are already giving him the award, while a few have rejected it. But there’s another group that has thrown up a challenge to the legend. A fan provoked, “Na…Lavar went 3 for 3 while not being in the NBA.” hinting at the fact that LaVar has managed to send all his kids to the NBA, it is now for fans to decide if Gil can claim the award, with a condition that he manages to see all 5 of his kids in the NBA drafts.
The discussion over the MVD might not die soon, but for the young Arenas, there is still a lot to enjoy as a kid before entering the social media mess.
