NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon was a magician at his craft. The iconic Dream Shake of Olajuwon was almost unstoppable. Furthermore, he was a force to be reckoned with on the defensive end as well. Given his expertise, multiple NBA legends have sought training from him over the years. Recently, superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo revealed his plans to train with the Hall of Famer as well. However, this has caused a debate, and Giannis has “caught a stray” from Stephen A. Smith.

Olajuwon’s footwork was unreal despite his massive size. This gave him a huge advantage over his opponents. Superstars like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, and so forth have trained with the Houston Rockets legend. Now, Giannis is reportedly doing the same.

Stephen A. Smith’s advice to Giannis Antetokounmpo

Antetokounmpo is one of the most dominant players in the league now. Nonetheless, the 7x NBA All-Star is still willing to learn and is seeking the guidance of Hakeem Olajuwon. However, NBA veteran Gilbert Arenas was not impressed with the Greek Freak’s intentions. The 3x NBA All-Star noted that the game has changed and Olajuwon won’t be able to help Giannis while talking about it on his podcast. Furthermore, Arenas also claimed that Olajuwon charges $50K for his training sessions and criticized it as well. However, the 2003 MIP’s comments did not sit well with Stephen A. Smith.

The analyst recently discussed it during an episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show. Smith immediately disagreed with Arenas’ take on Olajuwon. He reminded the fans about the Hall of Famer’s greatness during the podcast.

However, after making his point about Olajuwon’s value, he had an interesting advice to Antetokounmpo.

Smith said, “My issue Gil with Giannis is that I think more of a priority for him should be his perimeter shooting ability. Giannis you can’t shoot!”?

The analyst agreed with Arenas’ argument that the game has changed drastically in recent years. But he still believes Olajuwon could help the 2x NBA MVP massively.

He has been in the MVP race almost every season in the last few years. Even though Antetokounmpo has a few years left in his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, there are already rumors of him moving to a different team.

Notably, after giving his take on Giannis’ poor shooting, Stephen A. Smith hoped he would sign with his favorite team.

Smith said, “Now I love Giannis. He’s a superstar and I hope that the Knicks get him. But damn! All you gotta do is backup.”

It is no secret that Antetokounmpo’s shooting numbers are not the best. However, it could be game over for everyone if he can improve that part of his game. This makes him highly sought after.

So it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Antetokounmpo and the Bucks.
