What’s your perspective on:

Is Alijah Arenas' humility his greatest asset, or is it his scoring prowess that steals the show?

Have an interesting take?

“Fire tests gold and humility tests a true man,” is a quote that perfectly fits the young Alijah Arenas. In an age where arrogance often strikes players early, he seems to be an exception. Arenas has already been a sensation for some time, especially after his selection to the McDonald’s All-American game. But what did he do this time that has once again sparked conversations about his humble nature?

The incident happened before the Chatsworth Chancellors’ game against the Birmingham Patriots when Alijah Arenas met a ‘fan’. The guy was not here to exchange a jersey or for an autograph or a click. Then what else? To gift a special shirt from his merchandise business to the junior player who is ruling the court. And what Arenas Jr. did after ‘this’, made a memorable moment for the young fan, which did not go unnoticed either.

In an Instagram video story re-shared by Chatsworth No. 0, he was more than welcoming to the entrepreneur fan. Staying true to his character, the NBA 3x All-Star’s son unzipped the gift packet and lifted the shirt with excitement. The player then said, “Oh, this is fun. I’m wearing it right now. I’m wearing it to the game.” Coming from a basketball family, he’s always been around fans, especially in the presence of his father. He understands how the right reaction can either boost or deflate morale. And what better way to make a fan’s day than hearing their icon will wear the ‘gift’ in the game?

The account @dreamsuntilyreality, who was honored by the gesture, later posted an Instagram story, “The reactions might be the best part of the journey, @alijah0arenas so humble man, amazing meeting you.” Oh, the 17-year-old’s humility forced him to step in here too! He re-shared the story with a caption, “Thank you for the Merch bro.” Too humble, right? Perhaps Gilbert Arenas, his father, might be the source of his humility, as he sometimes was seen throwing his Washington Wizards jersey into the stands. Can humility alone keep him in the news forever? No, the young lad surely has some solid achievements to be there.

What else makes Alijah Arenas a promising star of the future?

Beyond his off-court humility, the Chatsworth native shows unwavering dedication to excel in the game. Growing up in a basketball family, with his father as a mentor and his sister in college basketball, he has a very clear approach to the sport, and his stats speak for themselves. Known as a scoring machine, he averaged 33 points per game and 8.6 rebounds in the 23-24 season for his high school team. Does this come easy? Of course not, given the fierce competition.

And can you imagine someone who was originally supposed to graduate in 2026, reclassifying to join the class of 2025? Why not, with numbers like these? The beast in his high school jersey averaged 31.8 points in 16 games and holds a career-high 56 points in a single game! With these achievements, he’s undoubtedly confident in being ahead of the curve, ready to unlock his future a bit earlier than the rest.

The uncommitted talent has already listed Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, and USC as his top picks for college. And having positive relations with all colleges, only time will tell where he will head in the future. Beyond college, the NBA is also some years away now. But with a promising pool of second-generation talents, the fans might expect a new basketball war.
