There was a lot of excitement when Jordan Poole joined the Washington Wizards despite the way he left the Golden State Warriors. Many believed the young star would break free leading the Wizards as their main man. Notably, NBA legend Kevin Garnett predicted Poole to emulate James Harden after leaving the OKC Thunder for the Houston Rockets. However, JP has struggled so far in Washington which led to an epic U-turn from Garnett in November 2023.
In his books, Poole has gone from MVP candidate to “does not belong in the league”. The Boston Celtics legend let his opinion known during an episode of the KG Certified podcast. He was not happy with the 24-year-old star’s performances and attitude. However, not everyone agrees with Garnett’s take.
John Salley was asked about KG’s claim during a recent episode on Vlad TV. The 4x NBA champion made it clear that he disagrees with the 15x NBA All-Star. The Detroit Pistons legend stated, “I disagree. Jordan Poole is a good player. He’s just having a rough time in life right now.”

Even though he sympathized with the guard, Salley implied that Poole might not be a leader or a superstar. The 4x NBA champion added, “And not everybody’s a General. Some people are really good at being a Sergeant and Lieutenants. But not everybody’s a General.”
The former player noted that everyone expected Poole to continue his fine form and bring the winning mentality and chemistry from the Warriors to Washington. However, he felt the Wizards did not create the right environment for the young star to do that.
