Fans of a certain NBA legend recently went on Instagram to witness his wife celebrating a special moment, just a few months after the legend was bestowed with an exceptional honor.

Pau Gasol’s No. 16 jersey was retired

Pau Gasol?s 20-year career with the NBA came to an end after he retired from professional basketball in 2021. A few months ago, Gasol was honored by his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, as they retired his No. 16 jersey. The ceremony was held during the halftime of a Lakers game where they were competing against the team with which Gasol had begun his NBA career: the Memphis Grizzlies.

Gasol is the 13 player in the history of the Lakers to have received this prestigious honor.

Amongst the people who attended were former players, coaches and close friends. The ceremony began with Vanessa Bryant, a close friend of the Spaniard, gracing the audience with an old video of her husband, the late NBA Legend Kobe Bryant.

In the video, the Black Mamba claimed that when Pau retires, he will have his No. 16 Jersey next to Bryant’s No. 24. He also said that he really looks forward to the day when Pau gives his speech from center court. Bryant?s prediction came true. Gasol, with tears in his eyes and while standing on the center court, saw his jersey being unveiled right next to his best friend?s.

A few months after the magical moment that touched the hearts of NBA fans around the world, Gasol was once again showered with special treatment from his wife, Catherine.

A few hours ago, Catherine took to Instagram to share a picture of the couple locked in a warm embrace. The picture had the caption, ?4 years down, forever to go.? Catherine shared the picture to mark the couple?s 4-year wedding anniversary. The former player reposted the picture on his Instagram story with the caption, ?Happy Anniversary my love!!? followed by two heart emojis.

In 2019, Pau and Catherine married in a public ceremony and then a private one. They share two children: Elisabet Gianna Gasol and Max Gasol. Elisabet’s middle name is a tribute to Gianna Bryant, Kobe Bryant?s daughter, who lost her life in the same helicopter crash as her father in 2020.
