Hip-Hop 50 is the celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. To honor the hip-hop culture, celebrations are set to be held all over the world this year. Events like concerts, tours, battles, DJ performances, etc are on the cards for the celebration. As things kicked off in Yankee Stadium, some heavy hitters performed in front of a sold-out crowd. The star-studded lineup included superstars like Lil Wayne, Eve, Nas, Run-DMC, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, and so forth. As the event continued, one rapper caught the attention of Shaquille O’Neal.
The Los Angeles Lakers legend is now a popular DJ who tours around the world regularly. Furthermore, the Hall of Famer was a rapper early in his basketball career and has released five studio albums as well. Notably, his first-ever album Shaq Diesel received platinum certification.

DJ Shaq holds the peace sign up to a crowd at a live performance
The five-time NBA champion shared a video clip of rappers Fat Joe and Peter Gunz performing at the live event on his Instagram story. Notably, both rappers are originally from the Bronx.
The Yankee Stadium bounced with the Bronx natives’ extraordinary performance on stage. After the appearance, Fat Joe had an interesting response about the event. The $4 million worth rapper reportedly stated he felt like he died and woke up in heaven during the performance.

“It’s unbelievable, it’s unreal,” Fat Joe told AllHipHop. “It’s like heaven. You died and woke up in heaven.”
Furthermore, he was also happy about seeing young fans outside the stadium rapping and freestyling. He was glad that people were having fun.

Shaquille O’Neal and his son took center stage
Shaquille O’Neal has not released an album in decades. However, he is still one of the most popular in the music industry thanks to his DJ skills. Also, the former center’s superstardom as a basketball legend also makes him in demand. While four of his children followed his basketball route, Myles O’Neal followed the music route.

The father-son duo have been major waves in the DJ industry recently. Notably, Shaq and Myles took center stage at the UFC 290 afterparty in Las Vegas, Nevada.
