The Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco blended basketball and music in the most spectacular way ever. It was a buzz-worthy event teeming with fans and stars of the Golden State Warriors. At the epicenter was one of the main acts in the lineup, Shaquille O’Neal aka ‘DJ Diesel.’ He may be a Los Angeles Lakers legend, but he made Warriors fans very happy with his performance.

O’Neal made a bold prediction at the end of his performance at Outside Lands. Warriors fans were extremely pleased with it. But only a few months ago, he had a different opinion on this team.

The Outside Lands Music Festival got bigger and better in its 15th year. A big reason for that is Big Diesel. Shaquille O’Neal was announced as the act in the festival lineup, performing at the Twin Peaks set.

Despite being late to his performance, Big Aristotle made the crowd very happy. For starters, he apologized for his tardiness by pinning the blame on certain VIPs in attendance – Warriors stars, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. He jumped right in yelling, “Where my Warriors fans at?” O’Neal is a platinum-selling rap artist, DJ, and savvy crowd-pleaser. He gave shout-outs to the Warriors fans, San Francisco, and his friends.

This Bay Area festival was full of NBA fans in Warriors jerseys, along with vintage Shaq jerseys. The side-stage had a few Warriors players themselves. Towards the end of his set, O’Neal brought out the best guest appearance one could expect at Outside Lands, as per the SF Chronicle. He called Warriors’ returning guard, Gary Payton II, with “I got a real Golden State Warriors.”

O’Neal and Payton hyped the crowd with the last song the retired NBA pro played, Queen’s ‘We Are the Champions‘. The former Lakers champion dedicated this song to all of Warriors nation before turning into a fortune teller. “This is the song you’re going to be singing at the end of this year.” That’s an interesting way to close a performance. However, O’Neal wasn’t so supportive only a few months back.

Back in April, O’Neal was interviewing Sacramento Kings’ star duo, De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk on TNT’s Inside the NBA. This was after the Kings dominated the Warriors in a game. “They just played very lackadaisical,” O’Neal said about the Warriors on air.

Praising the Kings’ energy, O’Neal offered sound advice to the team if they wanted to keep winning against the Warriors. Fast forward to August, O’Neal is in the Warriors’ territory with a different opinion.

Multi-hyphenate Shaquille O’Neal found success as an NBA pro, musician, entertainer, businessman, and broadcaster. And he’s always been open to adding another feather in his cap. While DJing at Outside Lands, he played fortune-teller by proclaiming the Golden State Warriors as the next NBA champions.
