Name one place where you have not witnessed the Michael Jordan effect. It’s a never-ending scenario. The Chicago Bulls legend turned heads with his impeccable performance on the court. And after retiring, his stardom is continuing to do the same -even at nightclubs! Every celebrity in America has their own story about witnessing the 6x champion live. From Chris Tucker to Samuel Jackson, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon – the list goes on. The latest entrant to the club is American actor/comedian Lil Rel Howery. The 44-year-old actor joined Jennifer Hudson for a viral interview, where he spoke about seeing Michael Jordan live and in the flesh.
Howery shared, “This is a true story. He was at a club, it was packed full of beautiful women. As soon as Michael Jordan walked in, every man in there stared at him the whole time.” Leave women, even the male fanboys did not want to miss out on witnessing the Black Cat in all his glory. The comedian added that he did not “meet” Mike but he continued, “All of ’em were looking at Mike like, ‘Oh Mike taking a drink’. It was a bunch of women behind dancing by themselves, and we were just looking at Michael Jordan for the rest of the night.”

As mentioned above, it’s Michael Jordan. You don’t get to see him every night. So Jennifer Hudson wanted more. She asked Lil Rel Howery to impersonate the Bulls legend as well. “Well, you gotta play hard, do what you gotta do,” Howery said while trying to make his voice sound deeper.
The actor/comedian is a huge fan of basketball. He played in the NBA All-Star celebrity game back in 2020, under Stephen. A. Smith’s coaching. He also acted alongside Kyrie Irving, Shaquille O’Neal, and Nate Robinson in the famous basketball movie, ‘Uncle Drew’. But his MJ story adds a new connection between the 44-year-old and the basketball world. After all, seeing Mike in real life is something many, many A-List actors cannot stop ranting about.
A few celebrities speak about meeting Michael Jordan for the first time
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who directed the movie ‘Air’, spoke about their first encounter with the 5-time NBA MVP. Damon and Affleck met Jordan to get his approval for the famous Nike-centric movie. Damon shared that Jordan was “easy-going” and he had requested to rope in Viola Davis for the role of Deloris Jordan [Jordan’s mother]. Honestly, great casting chops from His Airness.

Another one of the most iconic meet-ups was Hollywood’s best Leonardo DiCaprio meeting Jordan right after the 1998 NBA Finals. Di Caprio had gone to congratulate Jordan on his 6th championship and the Bulls star loved that he attended the game live. Jordan told DiCaprio, “Thank you man, I’m glad you came.” DiCaprio was impressed with Jordan’s iconic game-winner. The Oscar-winner told Jordan, “You did some beautiful stuff just now. That was poetic.”
