In 2023, his statement about Stephen Curry and “generational talent” did not sit well with the netizens. However, he changed his stance last year and explained his opinion. Similarly, the 3x All-Star has once again backtracked his statement. This time it is his top 10 list which didn’t include the Spurs legend at first. However, he added the name in the caption to rectify his forgetful nature and knocked down Magic Johnson.

“I didn’t have him in the top 10. I am going to be honest with you. Because I didn’t think about him. His name didn’t register to me.” Then Gilbert Arenas would give his top 5 list: Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Magic Johnson. To defend his opinion, he stated, “It gets murky after that.” He states that because, as the caption suggests, he has more than 5 people on the list. Which he had stated previously during the Olympics and was unsure about the fifth spot.

 

“I got six people in the top five. So my original top five, MJ, LeBron, Kobe, Shaq, and Magic, and then I added Steph, yeah. I don’t know who to push out, so it’s gonna you have to give me some time.” Looking at his current list, it seems Magic Johnson is the one who got replaced with Tim Duncan. And even in the video, he stated that Curry was ahead of the Lakers legend. As he was waiting for the Warriors star to officially retire to give him that coveted spot. So, the Lakers legend made it clear that Stephen Curry still needs to achieve a few more accolades to be called the #1 point guard. However, Gilbert Arenas doesn’t believe, so that’s why he gave the spot to Curry but also to Tim Duncan.
