Two O’Neals had promising starts to their NCAA seasons at the same time. Which left their families to make some important decisions. Me’Arah O’Neal made her NCAA debut with the Gators ladies on November 4. At the same time, her brother, Shaqir started his first season since transferring to Florida A&M on Monday too. So their parents, Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie Henderson had to split duties. While Shaq was spotted at TCU watching his son play, Shaunie did a double mom shift at Meezy’s game. While Shaquille claims he doesn’t watch his kids’ games, Shaunie wanted to be there for both. She makes up for it in other ways.
The FAMU Rattlers suffered a blowout 105-59 loss to the TCU Horned Frogs. Shaqir recorded 2 points and 1 assist and rebound each. In comparison to his time at Texas Southern University, Shaqir is seeing more minutes on the court already. He’s already practicing for their next game on Thursday with hopes to redeem himself.
The Rattlers also highlight Shaqir’s hard work during practice. It prompted Shaunie to share the same post on her Instagram Stories writing, “That’s my boy! I love you and I’m so proud of you son.”

It was a different game for Shaqir’s sister. Me’Arah O’Neal’s first official NCAA game was just as dominant as her exhibition game last week. The Gators won 82-54 over the Florida Atlantic Owls on Monday’s game.

The Gators are fighting to regain their standings in the SEC after losing out last season. With the additions of freshmen powerhouses like Meezy and Liv McGill, the team is already surging ahead. Me’Arah has proven her defensive prowess right from the exhibition game collecting rebounds.
Shaq missed that game because he wasn’t pulling the dual role Shaunie was.

Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife splits tasks for kids’ games
Monday was tough on Shaunie who is a very present mom. Unfortunately for her, both her kids were playing major milestone games at the same time. While her co-parents went to Shaqir’s game, Shaunie opted to attend Meezy’s game in the O’Dome.
She illustrated the experience in one Instagram post, “The moments I wish I could split myself in half…. Both my babies are game openers tonight. I’ll be sitting in the stands watching one while holding my phone and watching the other. MOTHERHOOD! I love every minute of it. Cheering for both at the same time!”

We didn’t spot Shaquille O’Neal observing Meezy’s game virtually. Maybe he had other ways to catch up during or after the game, who knows? But they’re going to face this dilemma for at least 2 more seasons (unless Shaqir plans to head to the NBA sooner).
The Gator ladies and the Rattlers have games on Thursday. The best part, while Shaqir’s team contends against SMU, Meezy will play against the Lady Rattlers. It’ll be interesting to see how the Shaquille O’Neal family splits their loyalties in that one.
