Flaunting Dance Moves With Wife Cookie, Magic Johnson Joins Thousands at “Old Stomping Grounds” for Iconic Group

It’s a special time for Magic Johnson and his ride-or-die, Cookie. The couple is celebrating their anniversary in style. Recently, they took a break from the Washington Commanders‘ winning streak and stopped by a little place that Magic regularly visited in his yesteryears. It was epic for a lot of reasons. From the iconic performers to the NBA legend’s dance moves, there was a lot to unpack from Magic and Cookie’s special night. Even after it was over, Johnson couldn’t help but gush about seeing favorite music group.

The venue was extra special for the Showtime Laker. Before Lionel Richie entertained a full house on Friday night, Magic Johnson thrilled basketball fans over four decades ago.

Magic Johnson returns to The Forum for a special occassion

September 15 was a spectacular night for attendees at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. Stars and fans alike descended at LA’s iconic arena to watch Lionel Richie perform during his Sing a Song All Night Long tour. Joining him for this ‘September’ leg was the iconic group, Earth, Wind, & Fire. Magic Johnson was one of the many fans in attendance, along with his wife, Cookie. The couple met Richie and other stars backstage.

Despite his own fame and stature, the Los Angeles Lakers legend sounded absolutely starstruck tweeting about his night.

“Cookie and I got to see two of our favorite entertainers of all-time last night at my old stomping grounds, the Forum! My favorite group, Earth Wind and Fire, opened up the show…Then we watched our great friend, the legendary, superstar entertainer, and one of the most prolific songwriters of all-time Lionel Richie!…What an awesome date night! ”

It’s also the location that is significant to him. One of the famous tenants of The Forum were the Los Angeles Lakers from 1967 to 1999. Johnson played there during his Lakers tenure and won his five championships.

Notably, Magic co-owns the LA Sparks, a WNBA team that also briefly played at The Forum at the turn of the century.

Returning to the Forum with Cookie was extra special as they celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary the night before. They certainly proved they’re young at heart when they couldn’t resist shaking a leg.

It’s a busy time for Johnson. He’s making his debut as an NFL executive this football season. This week he took a break from football to dance the night away with Cookie Johnson and Lionel Richie in the city of Angels.

Several attendees noticed them in the stands and captured them on cameras. Along with a clip he shared in the above tweet, his dance moves are getting attention. The dad of three busted out class dad moves next to Cookie which gave social media users quite the laugh.

Fans suggested when in the Forum, Magic should stick to basketball instead of dance. He and Cookie were still adorable and clearly had a great time. It’s back to the grind from Week 2 when the Commanders take on the Denver Broncos on Monday.
