Isiah Thomas: A truth-teller or just another loudmouth stirring the pot?

Be very mindful of what you say on social media. Isiah Thomas is watching you. The NBA legend is one of the most active sports stars on X. Whenever he thinks the NBA world could use his advice, Zeke is quick to comment using X. However, he often uses the same platform to rant about his past feuds. Needless to say, there is always controversy and debate following his comments.

While he does like to engage with various concerns in the basketball world, his favorite topic is Michael Jordan.

Perhaps it’s also because the media still talks about Jordan and his arch-rival, Thomas. The famous incident of Thomas and the rest of the stars trying to freeze out Jordan during the 1985 All-Star Game was mentioned in an article by Inquisitr. The article also included Jordan’s comment that Thomas was the one who started the feud during their first encounter in an elevator. However, Thomas quickly responded to the article on X.

“Stop lying this story is not factual or accurate, tell the truth man. Dr.J, Moses Malone, Larry Bird, Sidney Moncrief and I did not freeze you out,” Thomas wrote back in 2022.

He further explained how he was injured in the second half while it was Magic Johnson and Ralph Sampson who “dominated” the game. His response to Anthony Edwards‘ contentious take on the previous NBA era also made the waves.

Have an interesting take?

Isiah Thomas made use of a 3-point shot in response to Anthony Edwards’ controversial comment

The Minnesota Timberwolves star shook the NBA world recently when he claimed that MJ was the only player in NBA history with skills which was seen as disrespectful to the other greats of that era. He went on to suggest that many players in the current generation possess similar skills. In response, Thomas clarified that the popularity of the 3-point shot, thanks to Stephen Curry in today’s game, has created an illusion of skill.

“The only skill “emphasized” more is the 3-point shot, creating the illusion that the athlete and skills have magically evolved into another athletic species,” Thomas wrote.

He also mentioned that there was propaganda existing surrounding Michael Jordan. “Propaganda works, so be careful what you choose to believe,” Thomas commented.

Furthermore, Thomas didn’t hold back about the “propaganda” part when Charles Barkley revealed the alleged reason behind Zeke’s surprising omission from the 1992 Dream Team.

Isiah Thomas’ rant after Charles Barkley made a major revelation

Chuck stirred the internet during his appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast, sharing that the Pistons’ great should have been on the Dream Team instead of John Stockton. However, His Airness had a different opinion, as he believed.

Thomas’ snub remains a big controversy, and it only kept growing with Barkley’s newly added comments and finally with Thomas’ response. Taking to X handle, Thomas ranted, “The years of fraudulent blatant lies being covered up by mass marketing and propaganda being exposed.”

Not just Chuck but many other fans believed the same. However, the same population is also exhausted by reading his constant rants on X. Well, Thomas often posts something or the other on X to keep the feud alive. It certainly didn’t help when Stephen A. Smith suggested that Thomas let go of the beef.

Isiah Thomas exposed Stephen A. Smith

This began after the 2x NBA champion demanded that Jordan publicly apologize for calling him an “a**hole” on television. Yes, His Airness made that remark in The Last Dance documentary. Although Jordan reportedly apologized privately, Thomas is seeking a public apology. And as mentioned before, he often brings it up on X.

Recently, Smith declared on his show that Jordan doesn’t care about their feud. Smith claimed that Jordan isn’t “fond” of Thomas and that the latter is overly concerned with the conflict. However, the Pistons’ Bad Boy retorted that, in reality, it is the media, including Smith, that keeps the feud alive.

“I don’t live my life focused on beef, but the media and people like you continue to bring it up so I respond. In fact, you invited me on your show last week to talk about it and I declined, I’m good!!” Thomas wrote on X.

That’s not the only time. Thomas also once called out Smith for his comments on Jaylen Brown.

Isiah Thomas was unimpressed by Stephen A. Smith’s odd comment about Jaylen Brown

During a segment of First Take, Smith said that an “anonymous source” called Brown being not enough “marketable.” More than the comment, Thomas appeared more upset about the ‘anonymous source’ and asked the analyst to reveal it.

“He (Brown) is 100 percent marketable and before you slander his name @stephenasmith tell your source to put their name on it or don’t speak on it. Let it be known,” Thomas wrote on X. Not just Zeke, but many began to criticize Smith for his comment.

This was soon followed by another tweet from Smith, where he refused to reveal the source and expressed disappointment that Thomas did not ask him personally but rather chose to discuss it on X. Well, he is making good use of the platform.

The rivalry between MJ and Thomas was the most infamous and entertaining aspect of the ’80s. Not to mention the time when the Pistons players refused to shake hands with the Chicago Bulls stars after their defeat in the 1991 Conference Finals. The only drawback is that this drama has dragged into 2024. However, this has nothing to do with Thomas’ other controversial takes on social media. Well, sometimes it also does good.
