At 23, she was juggling three toddlers, a fledgling design studio, and a chance encounter at Spike Lee’s Hollywood boutique. When Magic Johnson surprised her with a baby shower for twins she hadn’t even imagined he’d remember, something clicked: this wasn’t just mentorship, it was a lifeline. Fast‑forward nearly three decades, and that once-grateful intern has become a TV phenomenon. A phenomenon so famous that she left the mentor who helped launch her, chasing her own spotlight on national cable. What fueled that leap from boardrooms at Magic Johnson Enterprises to HGTV stardom?

We are talking about none other than Page Turner. Most might remember her from her debut show, Flip or Flop Nashville, from 2018. In the show, the designer turned neglected and damaged Tennessee properties into functional family homes. Or do you remember Fix My Flip from 2022? With Rock the Block, Battle on the Mountain, and more on her resume, she has featured in 10 TV shows.

On The Tamron Hall Show, Turner credited her seven years at Magic Johnson Enterprises for teaching her entrepreneurship during her 7 years wth the company. She left the company to focus on her own business. And it might be safe to say that she is thriving.

“I worked for Earvin for about seven years, and you know what I learned from him, Tam fam? I learned how to be an entrepreneur, and I had to leave and go start my own business, she declared. But how did she meet Johnson?

During her time in L.A., while working at director Spike Lee’s store, Spike’s Joint West, she came across an opportunity to work with the 5x NBA champion. In one of her Instagram posts, she expressed gratitude to Johnson for how the basketball legend planned a surprise baby shower when she was pregnant with her twins.

“I was 23 with 3 babies under 2 & a single Mama, working for an amazing mentor & friend @magicjohnson 🙏🏽 (who gave me theee best surprise baby shower 😭) & only the support of my small family & a village of aunties & 2 uncles that made sure we NEVER went without 😭❤️” she wrote on her Instagram.

Who is Christina Francis?

Christina Francis, born and raised in New Orleans, has built a marketing and leadership résumé that spans Fortune 500 brands, major sporting events, and elite sports organizations. Early in her career, Francis cut her teeth at IBM as a marketing representative, then transitioned to Nissan Motor Corporation in 1994, where she honed multifaceted skills across product marketing, sponsorships, and events under senior VP Jerry Florence’s mentorship.

Her resume included milestones such as handling marketing for Super Bowl XXXI, the Orange Bowl Committee, NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, and more. By 2004, while at Uniworld Group, she managed Magic Johnson’s Burger King endorsement and recalls how Johnson insisted on working exclusively with her—“Every time Earvin needed something, he wouldn’t call the people at Burger King. He would call me,” she told Sports Illustrated, planting the seeds for her later move into his inner circle

After repeatedly turning down Johnson’s offers to join MJE, Francis finally accepted in January 2014 as Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications, charged with scaling Magic Johnson Enterprises’ brand partnerships and community initiatives. Her leadership helped MJE diversify into stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Sparks, LA FC, and Team Liquid, as well as oversee the Apple TV+ docuseries “They Call Me Magic”.

Francis has steered MJE’s mission to empower minority‑ and women‑owned businesses, most notably in 2020. When the COVID‑19 pandemic threatened to shutter small enterprises in 2020, she spearheaded a multi‑million‑dollar loan program. The program channeled emergency capital to hundreds of at‑risk entrepreneurs, ensuring community‑level economic resilience across Los Angeles and beyond.

Looking forward, Francis will play a pivotal role in MJE’s expansion into new markets, including an influential position within the Washington Commanders’ ownership group, further extending Johnson’s vision of business as a vehicle for social impact.
