During his conversation with Udonis Haslem, Dan LeBatard apologized at the end of the segment, after he brought up an issue from the past. Born and bred in Miami, UD has always been a figure to look up to. That’s why he was even the franchise leader until he retired. But in 2010, there was an incident involving a car and a recreational dr-g. And LeBatard unknowingly revealed the person who was with Haslem at that point.
“But on the radio, because the only public blemish on your record in 20 years 25 years of master professionalism is something happened with an arrest and a car and mari–ana and (bleeped out) took the hit.” The former ESPN employee stated on the podcast. “That, of course, that stain would not end up on Udonis Haslem. (bleeped out) is taking the hit on that because he has learned that Udonis Haslem must be protected.”
The name of the person was edited out and UD reminded LeBatard not to use the official name again. “Well first things first, Dan, we ain’t supposed to say his real name.” Later called the person Drag, to avoid using real names and would narrate the story. “We were pulled over we, were arrested, and um there was it was mari–ana in the car, you know what I’m saying. And it was under the passenger seat and I was in the driver seat.” Mike Miller, co-host and teammate at the time in the Miami Heat, pointed out, “oh, so it was Drag’s fault.”

However, a month later, charges against UD were dropped. Which he revealed on the OGs podcast. “At the end of the day, my record got sponged. I got found not guilty, and that’s how it went.”

Recapping the events of Udonis Haslem’s life that transpired in 2010
As per ESPN’s report, the current VP of Basketball Development at the Miami Heat had multiple charges against him. First for over-speeding in his 2008 Mercedes and for an illegal window tint. The most serious one was for the more than 20 grams of dr-g that was in his car. Ultimately, in a month’s time, UD’s name was clear since they couldn’t find his fingerprint on the jar.

But the trauma of that day still persists as Udonis Haslem shared the emotional turmoil. “Can you put it on me? You know what I’m saying, but they didn’t want to hear that. Let’s just say I got put in a cell with like 10 people that weekend. He got the cell by himself. Oh yeah, that’s how they did me, killer (Mike Miller). They did me dirty, they did me dirty.” The 20-year- NBA veteran opened up about the discrimination he faced that day.

And previous to that arrest, according to ESPN, Udonis Haslem had signed a new five-year contract. That too a month prior before the incident happened in August. However, the former leader of the franchise showed his loyalty even today, as the name of his co-passenger did not come out of that room.
