When people talk about players that revolutionized the sport, there are a few obvious names that pop up. Whether it is uplifting the sport like Magic & Bird, globalizing it like Michael Jordan, or changing the dynamics of the game like Stephen Curry, the examples are obvious. However, one name that often misses such lists is LeBron James. While his contributions weren’t as immediately visible as the names mentioned here, Bron made player movement a viable option. 13 years to the day when the landscape of the league changed, LeBron’s former teammate and good friend Dwyane Wade reminisced about the iconic moment.

Dwyane Wade turned nostalgic, sharing scenes from an iconic day when he teamed up with his brothers, disregarding the money.

9th July 2011. A day that basketball fans can never forget. While LeBron James and Dwyane Wade had solidified their standing among the game’s best players, no one expected them to team up. And with Chris Bosh to boot? The league would be in danger. But, as we all know, LeBron aired The Decision?and finally, the two brothers were together.

The decision had after-effects long after it had culminated. Without the decision, perhaps Kevin Durant to the Warriors never becomes a possibility. Maybe Kawhi Leonard never asks out of San Antonio. Hell, the guy many consider to be the most loyal in the entire NBA is following in LeBron’s footsteps now: Damian Lillard.

13 years to the day, as Wade turns reminiscent, maybe he can finally look back on LeBron dunking it down. As the page has turned on crowd sentiment toward the?Big 3?days, Miami prepares for another superstar. The Superteam era,?whether fair or unfair, is credited to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

However, few, if any, talk about the struggles of such a roster. Recently, Wade opened up on the?sacrifice?the three Hall-of-Famers made during those years.

With top-end talent ready, a solid supporting group was essential for Miami to achieve its dreams. As Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns found out, depth is critical in the NBA. According to Wade, a key component of that depth was Mr. Heat Culture himself, Udonis Haslem.

The combined salaries of Wade, James, and Bosh would have caused?the greatest career in Miami Heat history to unfortunately be shipped out. But the three understood the necessity of having valuable pieces around them, and all took a large pay cut to incorporate more depth.

In a famous graphic that keeps going around, the three combined to earn less than Desmond Bane will make over the length of his contract. Bane is going to earn $207 million over a span of five years with the Memphis Grizzlies. Meanwhile, the Heat’s iconic trio earned close to $180 million COMBINED during their 4 years together.

While Wade and Bosh have retired from the game, Bosh rather unceremoniously due to health concerns, LeBron is still going strong. After teasing retirement at the end of last season, James looks set to be back on the court next season.
