The league going “soft” is an opinion that has gained relevance in recent years. This argument mostly comes from fans, especially those who have witnessed the game in another era. Recently, an NBA veteran added his 2 cents to the conversation, blaming it on Adam Silver.

Rashad McCants on the state of the league
The 39-year-old was recently in a conversation with Anton Daniels on his YouTube channel. Anton asked the NBA veteran about his opinion on the league under Stern versus the current leadership under Silver. Rashad replied Stern was all about his business and had the priorities in the right place. As per McCants, Silver is “on some punk sh*t. He’s the punk version” of Stern. McCants said that Silver is a little “flimsy” and that his “handshakes are soft”. He said that he is not a fan of what he has done with the league over the years. As per the NBA veteran, Silver popped out of nowhere to take charge of the league.

The NBA veteran said that because of who Silver is as a person, he has led the league in a bad direction so far as the sensitivity is concerned. He said that in Silver’s administration, we have seen a massive surge in the reviews being called and things that used to be common have become intolerable now.
McCants is not alone in the opinion that the league has changed drastically and caters to something that is not even necessary for the quality of the game being played.
There have been several instances where players have been booked or ejected for simply showing emotions on the court.

The recent absurdity in the league
The league has seen a rise in absurdity, regarding the kind of fouls that players are being booked for. It has reached a point where fans are getting annoyed with regularity. In March 2021, Devin Booker was ejected from the game after receiving two technical fouls. One instance was when Booker bounced the ball to a referee when the game was at a halt.
