The LA Lakers may witness some major changes in upcoming time but will they have a positive impact remains the question. Notably, the Lakers are in a hunt for the new head coach after the firing of Darvin Ham. And as per the reports, one of the early favorites for the position includes JJ Redick. Some other speculated names into consideration are James Borrego, Sam Cassell, David Adelman, and Micah Nori. Apart from this, there have also been speculations around if the Lakers will draft Bronny James or not. Meanwhile, former NBA star Paul Pierce has weighed in on what he thinks of the likely addition of Redick and Bronny to the Lakers.

Paul Pierce believes that if this addition were to happen, it’d be because of reasons different from the championship. “I really don’t even think this is really about a championship no more. This is about putting on a good show… This sound like a script to me… Think about this, they hired JJ Redick, draft Bronny… I mean, does this sound like something… like we’re trying to move in a direction to win a championship? Or does it sound like we’re trying to put on a show?” said the former Boston Celtics star on ‘The Truth Lounge’ show

Paul Pierce further mentioned that the emphasis could be on entertainment because that sells more tickets. “That’s gonna sell out, that’s gonna keep people talking about it in the blogs. That’s gonna keep people in social media talking about what’s going on,” he stated. It is worth mentioning that JJ Redick runs ‘The Old Man and the Three’ podcast with Tommy Alter and Mind the Game podcast with LeBron James.

Meanwhile, Bronny James also enjoys significant media popularity as he ranks at the pot in college basketball NIL rank. So it is clear both Redick and Bronny have their own fanbase and therefore a potential to attract more fans. However, there are certain NBA stars who have a certain opinion on the two possibly joining the Lakers.

Some NBA stars express Reddick and Bronny should not join the Lakers

Former Lakers star Robert Horry had his reservations with Bronny joining not just the Lakers but the league itself. Appearing on the ‘Big Shot Bob Podcast’ Horry stated he believes that the 19-year-old should have stayed with college this year. “Just build his brand… It ain’t like he needs money,” he said.

As for Redick, there have been mixed opinions of sorts from the NBA community. However, former NBA star Channing Frye believes this move will straight away be a “death sentence” for Redick. “I think he’s jumping on a grenade… I know for a fact JJ Redick is a coach. But taking that job, I just don’t know. That’s a lot,” he said.

He further explained his belief by mentioning that coaching in the NBA with no prior experience is already tough. And coaching players like Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, and LeBron James in the Lakers is an added task. What is your opinion of the possibility of Bronny and Redick joining the Lakers?
