On his The Why with Dwyane Wade podcast, D-Wade met with the Fashion legend Donatella Versace. Dwyane and Versace sit down to discuss how they met, began working together, and why she chose Dwyane for her campaign. They talk about the acceptance of Dwyane’s daughter Zaya and how the LGBTQ+ community has embraced Dwyane and his family.

As a black male as a black man who’s from the black community that you know we feel is always getting you know stump down and step down and you know and not getting a chance to grow. I don’t feel that why would we do it to another Community. Yeah, we don’t like it the way it’s been done to us.“Dwyane Wade continued on how as a family, they are speaking out on things from personal experiences. Also, understands that many families and many people are not feeling accepted.

Wade said he and Donatella have a lot of love for the LGBTQ+ community. Plus are proud of the center in LA that can do a lot of hard work. To which she agrees and hopes to do more of the work because she has the voice and platform to talk about it. Wade also shared his struggle with the world that he and his family faced.

I mean as a father, who, um you know, daughter, who is part of you, know this community, which our family is a part of the community. My daughter Zaya, I’ve obviously had, as we know we have a lot of hate, but we also have a lot of support.“Wade continues: “
You know, we feel that we’ve gotten richer as a family. Because we’ve been lucky enough to get to know and be accepted by, and added to a community. Our life has gotten richer because of it, you know, and that’s you know, that’s that’s the way we feel.”
