Well, Dwight Howard might not be making headlines for his basketball skills anymore, but he sure knows how to keep himself in the spotlight. Ever since leaving the NBA after the 2020 season, he’s stayed relevant—whether with his playful attempts to stage a comeback or his outspoken take on the league. But this time, he and his wife, Amy Luciani, are turning heads with a bizarre display of “real love.”

Recently, Howard shared a video on Instagram that left fans completely baffled. In the clip, he and Luciani were brushing their teeth—not just side by side, but with the same toothbrush.

If that wasn’t enough to spark a debate, Howard even doubled down in the caption, writing, “It’s not real love unless you’re sharing a toothbrush 🤷🏿❤.” Unsurprisingly, the post quickly went viral, with many questioning if love really requires swapping toothbrushes.

Meanwhile, their outfits also caught some attention. Howard kept it simple with a black T-shirt, but Luciani donned a Lakers-themed attire, making fans wonder if this was a subtle nod to his past. Still, all eyes remained on their questionable take on “true love”—and, of course, that infamous toothbrush moment.

Fans can’t believe Dwight Howard’s “Real Love” stunt

As soon as the video hit the internet, fans wasted no time sharing their thoughts. Dwight Howard and Luciani completely disgusted many with their so-called “real love.” One fan wrote, “All that money and y’all sharing toothbrushes?” while another chimed in, “Dwight, you know damn well you got more than enough money for multiple toothbrushes.” But just how much is Howard worth these days?

Well, Howard may not be at the top of the NBA pay scale anymore, but he’s still sitting on a fortune. At one point, he was the highest-paid player in the league, and even though those days are behind him, he hasn’t exactly gone broke. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Howard’s estimated worth sits at a massive $140 million.

On top of that, he has also done plenty of endorsement deals. From Adidas to McDonald’s, he got big-name sponsors. In 2015, he even signed a multi-year deal with a Chinese brand Peak Sport, worth around $31.5 million. And let’s not forget Luciani—her estimated net worth is around $400,000, according to Net Worth Mirror. So yeah, they could definitely afford an extra toothbrush. That’s exactly why one fan joked, “N– you ain’t that broke.”

But while they might see it as a fun way to show their love, others pointed out how unsanitary it is. “Hell Naaaahhh I don’t care how close we are, this ain’t never happening we not sharing no toothbrush together 🤢🤢🤢😂😂😂,” one fan commented. Another added, “4/5 dentists just threw up 🤮.”

Meanwhile, Luciani’s dress had fans drawing another connection—Howard and the Lakers. With Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic recently traded, L.A. had to fill a big-man void, signing 7-foot center Alex Len. However, some fans remain unconvinced. “You’re better than Len bro, reach out to them,” one person wrote. Another suggested, “Ayo can you call the Lakers… Alex Len not the answer.”

Now in his 12th NBA season, Len hasn’t exactly been lighting it up. He’s only played 36 games for the Kings this season, averaging 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in just over seven minutes a night. At 31, he’s lost a step, but playing alongside LeBron and Luka could give him easy buckets.

Still, the question remains—will Howard try to make an NBA comeback, or is he content with making headlines for toothbrush antics?
