Only a handful of basketball players can truly be compared to the likes of King James or Michael Jordan. When a player’s name is mentioned alongside them, it’s a testament to their exceptional talent and potential for greatness. Schea Cotton, for instance, could have been the LeBron James of his time. Despite having the potential to follow a similar path in the league, fate had other designs for Cotton.

Though he never got the opportunity to fulfill the destiny that once seemed within his grasp. Recently, in his interview, Cotton took a closer look at two pivotal elements contributing to James’ remarkable success. 

Schea Cotton details the contributing factors of LeBron James’ success

During his recent appearance on the ‘All The Smoke’ show, Schea Cotton revealed a wealth of captivating insights about his own career and ventures. As Stephen Jackson’s co-host asked him, Cotton shared his perspective on the Los Angeles Lakers star’s journey to NBA success. Drawing from his thorough research, Cotton shared his thoughts on two critical aspects of LeBron James’ life that have played a significant role in his achievements.

Schea Cotton shared, “He had a guy in his Corner Rich Paul which help which helped him a lot along the way…I believe a family that adopted him in high school that helped him also that nobody talks about.”

Notably, off-court incidents and on-court injuries derailed Schea Cotton’s rise to fame. Ultimately, he would go undrafted in the 2000 NBA Draft. Cotton believes that the King learned valuable lessons by closely observing and reflecting upon his own mistakes and experiences.

He noted,  “I’m sure he’s probably learned some stuff from mine too, you know what I mean, lowkey whether he admits it or not. I’m sure he is familiar with and probably heard about the story.”

LeBron James’ adoptive family

Indeed, a significant amount of credit is owed to the athlete’s second family. He found guidance and support from Frankie Walker and his family, particularly Walker Jr., with whom he shared a room.

Their friendship influenced James’ future achievements. It was during his time with the Walkers that he transitioned from football to basketball. Walker played a pivotal role in instilling fundamental basketball skills in James, including dribbling and layup techniques.
