Dwyane Wade painting nails with his daughter—A bold move or just good parenting?

Dwyane Wade is turning his every passion into business. It was sometime in the summer of 2007 when D-Wade got his first manicure and realized a way of self-expression and self-love. He still gets his manicures and pedicures and does it for his daughter too. It was about time for the Flash to turn it into a business. And fortunately, we might get one soon.

Appearing for an interview with Jerica Duncan on CBS Mornings, the 3x champion, had a pop of color on his nails. When asked what was the impetus for it, Wade had one word –“Expression.” Wade believes himself to be creative and expressive and doesn’t limit it to any particular form. Having used fashion as one field to even launch a brand, it was a no-brainer for Wade to work up a way in manicure.

He revealed that he has been wondering about it for a long time. I actually thinking about jumping into the nail line… Yeah, I’ve been thinking about it. Like I’ve been in it so long. And I’m like, You know what, it could be a good time, but I got some cool ideas and I’m exploring. I’ve been having some conversations on my own about exploring,” Wade said.

One of his inspirations to take on the project has been his 6-year-old daughter, Kaavia, and spending time with her. It has, in fact, been his most favorite part of his manicure routine. “one of my favorite things to do when it comes to this is actually sitting down with my daughter and getting my nails painted and paint hers. That’s the time that we get to connect. Me doing something that she loves and also that I love,” he concluded.

While this is becoming a cherishable moment for Wade, it hasn’t always been kind on the public stage. He has previously received a lot of hate for painting his nails. But few know that it started as a form of self-love. Seeing the bad condition of his broken nails due to constant practice, he felt the need to pay more attention to them. That was the beginning.

Initially, he would paint his nails only during vacations. However, after some time, he decided to wear it to practice and games and began to take inspiration from everywhere. One day, he got another idea from basketball great Michael Jordan. The Chicago Bulls legend had clear nail polish on, and that’s when Wade tried it too. “I saw MJ’s nails and MJ had clear polish on his nails.” He admitted to being hesitant at first but slowly his mindset changed.

During his Hall of Fame induction in 2023, Wade wore a red, black, and clear nail polish which represents the Miami Heat. It was about inspiration and expression through and through.

But above all, Wade’s father, Dwyane Wade Sr., was the first man who inspired the champ and taught him self-love. Wade shared how his father always took great care of him, and that care influenced him deeply.
