La La Anthony appeared on a recent episode of ‘GOAT Talk With Complex’ along with her son Kiyan Anthony. The two answered several questions on the show. However, the 16-year-old’s response to the question, ‘GOAT person to have sitting courtside,’ did not go down well with his mother.

Kiyan’s answer to that question was $250 million worth rapper Drake. This led La La to assert, “The fact that you didn’t say your dad is crazy. The only time you sit courtside is with your dad.” However, the high school guard defended himself, stating, “Well, it said GOAT person to have sitting courtside, not someone sitting with you.” La La’s own response to the same question was American film director, Spike Lee as she believes the man to be a legend. However, Kiyan’s answer to the final question left his mother even more shocked.

La La was infuriated with Kiyan for Carmelo not being his first choice as a ‘GOAT Basketball player’. The 16-year-old said, “My GOAT is Paul George, Paul George is the best player ever. Kobe [Bryant], Paul George…Carmelo Anthony.” A shocked La La said “Are you serious? I’m leaving,” before playfully throwing the cue cards at her son for his answer. She added, “The fact that you didn’t say your dad first is crazy to me.” But Kiyan once again had an explanation.

He stated that Melo is “obviously” a GOAT but added, “he don’t even got a [ring]—” The young ball player abruptly stopped after realizing that his mom threw the deck of cards at him. “He don’t even gotta be talked about though,” Kiyan added.

Interestingly enough Kiyan’s choice Paul George also has no NBA rings to his name. Carmelo Anthony is a 10-time NBA All-Star, three-time Olympic gold medalist, an NBA scoring champion, and was picked as a member of the NBA’s 75th anniversary team. Earlier on her turn La La picked her son, Kiyan, as her GOAT basketball player. But this is also not the first time Kiyan has thrown shade at his father.

Last month, Kiyan shared a video on TikTok where he said he would outperform his father in a game of basketball if they were both 16 years old. Still for those watching, it was interesting to see La La come to the defense of his ex-husband. The two have maintained a respectful relationship after their split, which was yet again evident.

What happened between La La and Carmelo Anthony?

The two had met back in 2003 and what started with friendship soon developed into a romance. La La got engaged to Melo on Christmas in 2004. They got married to each other in 2010 and stayed together for 11 years before La La filed for divorce in June 2021.

La La discussed the probable cause of the divorce in a ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast episode. She stated things complicated between her and Melo while they lived in New York, attracting a great deal of attention. “I think that was kind of the start. Now that I look back, that was kind of the start of the demise of the marriage,” she said. She added the scrutiny from media also played a role in their split.
