Almost 7 years that Carmelo Anthony played for NY Knicks and it’s La La Anthony taking away a major honor. However, it’s not as if the Power star has not contributed to the city in her own way. If you’ve followed her journey, you know she star isn’t just a name from the world of glamor, she’s also the powerhouse behind ThreeSixty—a nonprofit dedicated to giving young men in Rikers Island prison a second chance at life. Recognizing her work recently was the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development.

The city has honored La La with her very own street name! Yes, “La La Anthony Lane” is officially a reality.

Sharing her excitement, she wrote on Instagram, “Thank you to NYC DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT for presenting me with my own street name for my prison reform & re-entry work through my program at Rikers THREESIXTY.”

Through mentorship, life coaching, and re-entry tools, La La’s ThreeSixty team equips the inmates with skills they can use during their time inside and after their release. Weekly sessions, meanwhile, emphasize on personal growth and rebuilding. La La’s motivation? Well, it’s deeply personal.

As a mom to her and Carmelo Anthony’s teenage son, the Power star feels a strong connection to the young men she helps. “At this age, they are still so young,” she shared in a PEOPLE interview earlier this year. “It feels like any one of our kids could be one bad decision away from being in a similar situation.”

However, through ThreeSixty, La La offers more than just hope. From leadership programs and sports to mental health support and legal aid, her efforts are shaping brighter futures. And it’s not as if her organization handles all the work on this cause while she remains detached from it.

Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife’s commitment to helping young men turn their lives around is nothing short of inspiring. Just days before Thanksgiving this year, she found herself at Rikers Island, a place not many would choose to spend this time of the year.

Sharing a picture of the Rikers Correction Department on her Instagram Story, she captioned it, “Thanksgiving on the island today, so grateful.” A reminder for all of us about the power of gratitude and giving back, especially during the holidays. But this wasn’t just a one-time gesture from the Power star.

Even last year, La La brought her compassion to Rikers Island by hosting a heartfelt dinner for incarcerated youth. She cherished the experience, saying, “I’m just excited that they got to bring some of their friends and family to share in a meal… Talk about what we’re grateful for.”

Her efforts, however, go beyond holiday dinners, too. She has, in other instances, brought her celebrity friends along to inspire these young men with wisdom and encouragement. Even Carmelo Anthony would agree that a commitment this strong and pure definitely deserved the honor that New York City has bestowed upon La La.
