Which player comes to mind when talking about the most recent NBA trades? Among the many, the most controversial ones have to be Luka Doncic and Jimmy Butler— the former point guard of the Dallas Mavericks and the small forward of the Miami Heat. Now, let’s talk about their similarity and how their trades made more noise than others. Both were the star players of their respective franchises. Although, the circumstances are slightly different for both. To add to the fire, former Warrior star Agent Zero called Butler’s departure from the Heat ‘a Rashad McCants’ move’.

Despite the off-court clash, Jimmy Butler’s contribution to his former franchise is substantial. After joining the Heat in 2019, he helped his team reach the NBA Finals in two seasons — 2020 and 2023. That didn’t mean his personal records weren’t outstanding. He snatched the All-Star title twice during his time there. Subsequently, he was dubbed the Batman of the team while the captain, Bam Adebayo, was Robin. The two superheroes lead the team to a new height.

However, after getting suspended from the games thrice, Jimmy finally called it quits with the organization. Gil drew parallels between Rashad giving up on being a Heat fan to Jimmy Butler withdrawing from his former team.

In the podcast ‘Gil’s Arena’ hosted by the 3x NBA All-Star, the casts were in a heated conversation on the newest duo in the NBA. Can you guess? Yep, it’s Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler. The golden duo of the Golden State Warriors. Their take — rather than Butler being a sidekick to Steph, he is the other pair that Steph needs to direct the Warriors forward. And Rashad wasn’t buying any of the takes there.

Can you blame him though? In the end, he was a loyal Heat fan. And Hibachi thought of the perfect comeback against Rashad. He said, “He did the Rashad McCants. Jimmy Butler did the Rashad McCants.” Hibachi further added, “When you gave up on Miami, he did too.”  He certainly took a jab at Rashad with that one.

We all know how Rashad supported Miami and called out Jimmy Butler for walking out of practice. He even went as far as saying that no team would want a player like that. But guess what? Apparently, he has now decided to dedicate his loyalty to another team. Well, the New York Knicks got themselves a new fan! A new home, a new team to support for Rashad McCants. Just like how Jimmy Butler is happy being able to play the game with the Warriors.

The Steph Curry-Jimmy Butler duo is totally killing it on the court

It would be an understatement to say that Jimmy Butler is doing ‘well’ with the Warriors. He has completely rejuvenated his star skills after the shift. Smashing the hoop with 18 points at his debut game against the Dallas Mavericks? Insane move there. Steph Curry also reached another game-high of 30 points in the third quarter.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Jimmy Butler betray the Heat, or is he just chasing a better opportunity with the Warriors?

Have an interesting take?

The game was in the Warriors’ favor since the first quarter. And why would that be? They were leading by a double digit. Above all, they reached the three-digit threshold before the fourth quarter. In the six games, Jimmy attempted 55 foul shots helping the Warriors outscore the Mavericks by 7 points. Eventually, the Warriors won 126 – 102. This marks their 5 win out of the six that they have played.

Now, the Warriors star has one big problem. He needs to find a place to live. That’s his main concern after the big win of the night. The issue is the team has a packed schedule – with a home game against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday and a five-game East Coast road trip. The question is how will Jimmy Butler navigate through all these hustles?
