The results of 2023-24’s first All-Star voting have come and there are a lot of controversies around it already. LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Tyrese Halliburton have taken the top spots. But the names at the bottom have been the problem for many. While social media continues to criticize it, former Phoenix Suns star Eddie Johnson chimed in to belittle the voters. The 64-year-old was utterly disappointed, and he did not hesitate to call out the fans. 

Johnson shared on his X account, “This is the very reason why the All-Star Game has not been viewable. Nothing is taken serious and especially among voters.” Regardless of the players on the list, the All-Star games have lost their competitiveness due to several reasons. The last few years have not been too entertaining to watch. Players fear injuries and they take the All-Star game slow and light.

The hope for the All-Star weekend is less and Johnson believes it will reduce further because of the players the fans have voted for. The 2022 All-Star game in Cleveland received a lot of appreciation, where Stephen Curry showcased his unbelievable shooting to secure 50 points. The last competitive All-Star game was in 2020, which was a thrilling watch. 

Who are the problematic players on the All-Star list?

It was a delight to watch a few new names like Alperen Sengun, Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero, Tyrese Maxey, etc. However, fans are not loving the fact that Klay Thompson, Kyle Kuzma, Mikal Bridges, and Austin Reaves are being supported to make it to the big weekend. We are not clear about the players in the list that Eddie Johnson is upset about. But, the above names have been the most controversial on the internet so far, because of their performance. Moreover, the fact that deserving players are being left out has annoyed the fans the most.

Jamal Murray from the Denver Nuggets, Scottie Barnes from the Toronto Raptors, Julius Randle from the Knicks, Franz Wagner from the Magic, Desmond Bane from the Grizzlies, Devin Booker from the Suns and Brandon Ingram from the Pelicans. These are a few players who have delivered great performances this season. However, there seems to be no hint of them making it to the All-Star. This has been the case for the last few years. Let’s not forget that Jimmy Butler, who took his team all the way to the Finals, did not make it to the All-Star last year and in 2021
