Looks like the Mavericks ain’t leaving without a fight. Luka Doncic and co. handed the Celtics the third-biggest loss (122-84) in NBA Finals History. Since the very beginning, the Maverick showed prowess leaving Boston behind with 13 points. Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown scored a total of 25 points, whereas Luka alone outscored them by 4 points. However, the Mavericks too have a tall task ahead of them. With a 3-1 deficit from which no team has been able to come out in NBA history, would you think Luka and Co. might be able to create history?
Well, we certainly can’t comment on the future, but past? that we can. Currently, with their team failing to sweep Dallas out and suffering an embarrassing loss, along with their favorites, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, being outperformed by a single person, it’s safe to say that Boston is not happy.
Not only normal fans but even NBA Legends have now started poking fun at the team. Recently, the former Houston Rockets player shared a tweet mocking Brooklyn. In the tweet, two fans could be seen getting into a fistfight post-game on Friday. Eddie A. Johnson, the former Houston Rocket legend, reposted it saying, “This guy connected better than any Celtic last night for sure! Sign him up!”

Eddie might not be wrong, Dallas out-performed the Celtics even in terms of field goal accuracy percentage.

Johnson sure wasn’t the only one on the Celtics slam train. Charles Barkley was rather quick in calling out the team “unprofessional.” He went on to add, “That was embarrassing by the Celtics. They actually thought the Mavs were gonna quit.” Thanks to the outcome, Chuck believes the Mavs are gonna take the series to 7 games.
Now after completely dismantling Boston, and snatching their dream of surpassing the Lakers, Luka and Co. surely look to be on par, eyes staunch on game 5.
Jason Kidd optimistic about stirring the series
The Celtics need the game 5. For a Mavs momentum could prove lethal for Jayson Tatum & Co. Following the win, Jason Kidd, Mav’s head coach said, “Our group was ready to go. They were ready to celebrate and we made a stand. We were desperate. We’ve got to continue to keep playing that way. They’re trying to close the door. The hardest thing in this league is to close the door when you have a group that has nothing to lose. Tonight, you saw that.”
Although Jason might still be hopeful about the team’s future, one thing that stood out was the fact that Dallas doesn’t have anything to lose, so they might as well give it all. As for Luka, the 25-year-old didn’t let his emotions show up on the camera. He mentioned that this win doesn’t make a difference in the bigger picture but iterated that it is important for the team to not lose focus and belief.
On the other hand, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla believes that the team had done everything in their power to make sure to get the title home. But they were sadly just outplayed by Dallas. Whatever the course of things might be, things surely got super interesting. Stay tuned for more updates.
