Stephen Curry is arguably one of the biggest shooters in the game. With the drop in TV viewership, there have been several cries that extreme three-point shooting is the issue. But is it? NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will say otherwise. And one thing is certain, be it extreme or not, the 11x NBA All-Star has brought a massive change to the game. Is it time for fans and basketball experts to finally put him in the conversation? Yes, the GOAT debate! Shaquille O’Neal made the demands years ago, and he did it again. And this time, there is more than one voice to back it up.

The 4x NBA champ recently caused a stir when he demanded that Curry should be in the GOAT conversation. Back in 2023, after the Warriors achieved a 132-126 overtime win over the Boston Celtics, the Lakers legend made his thoughts known. He even claimed that Curry is already “way better” than himself. However, not many seemingly agreed with Shaq. After Curry’s latest game, O’Neal said it again.

And this time, two more ex-NBA players agreed with him. Even better, both Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams, on the latest episode of Run It Back, explained the reasons that convinced them to agree with O’Neal. “Yeah, I fully agree. And I think he’s the greatest point guard. And when you have a guy as innovative as Steph Curry who has literally changed the game, you go to any country in the world right now, there’s someone trying to shoot the basketball like Steph Curry,” Parsons said.

Curry is one of the most talented point guards in the league’s history. And Williams argued that despite the position of point guard being the most tricky one, there aren’t any point guards in the GOAT conversation. “I agree with Shaq a thousand percent. We should start speaking about Steph Curry in the same breath as some of these guys, especially with the way that he’s went about business and been able to get championships in some of the toughest eras of the NBA and NBA history,” Williams said

Curry is currently averaging 24.1 points on 44.7% shooting, along with 6.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game this season. And even at the age of 36, he continues to put up spellbinding performances that are worth considering in the conversation. O’Neal’s latest comment came after the 2× NBA All-Star Game MVP’s great efforts saw the Warriors clinch a win over the Knicks.

Shaquille O’Neal makes a big request to fans

Most have kept the conversation limited to Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and a few other players. But O’Neal feels that it is time for Curry to shine. And it was seen in the matchup against the Knicks, where the Golden State Warriors put up a great play in the second half.

Curry scored 14 of his 28 points in the third quarter as the Warriors made a strong push. Later, he hit two important three-pointers near the end of the game to secure the 102-114 win at Madison Square Garden. Curry hasn’t lost in MSG in over 12 years and now boasts a record of 12-1 against Knicks.

“As the supreme leader of the big man alliance, I demand you fans to start putting Steph Curry in that greatest of all time conversation. Just start putting him in the conversation. There’s [Michael Jordan], there’s Kobe [Bryant], there’s LeBron [James]. Start putting Steph in that conversation. I demand it,” the Los Angeles Lakers legend said during the TNT broadcast. Do you agree?

Earlier, the 11x NBA star created a massive controversy when Curry considered himself the greatest point guard. Many argued against it. The debate was only fueled further when Stephen A. Smith claimed that Michael Jordan disagreed and chose Magic Johnson as the greatest. Well, while some continue to hesitate, former NBA players have already expressed their minds.
