“I was going to slap the sh*t out of him.” Kwame Brown’s words for Gilbert Arenas were a reflection of how strong the beef between the two was. And even Gil never held back on his end. “I can be honest now. We’re not friends. He was a fuc***g drunk, man. That’s what Kwame Brown was,” Arenas reflected on his opinion of Brown during his appearance on VLAD TV. And it’s not as if Brown wanted any approval of his former teammate from the Washington Wizards. So when he hears anyone say Brown got Allen Iverson involved to settle it out with Gil, he just can’t stand it.

Brown opened up more on this during a recent episode of Kwame Brown Bust Life. “These lie so much… Beautiful lies. They say I call Alan Iverson to get Gilbert Arenas off of me… Gilbert Arenas ain’t even saying nothing about me,” he said. But before addressing this issue, there was a different issue he wanted to address.

He pointed out the hypocrisy in internet rumors. Kwame stated on the one hand they claim he has no contact with any of the celebrities. “The next minute, I’m calling AI to stop… [Gil] from talking about me.”

Brown, however, didn’t deny his close bond with Allen Iverson. All Brown wanted was to point out the hypocrisy of internet rumors and opinions. “Allen Iverson is my guy,” he said. And the feelings seem to be mutual. Yep, the former Philadelphia 76ers star had once stated Kwame Brown to be “one of the purest men,” he has met. Coming back to his beef with Arenas, Brown claimed he never asked Iverson to get things resolved with Gil.

If anything it was the other way around. “Allen Iverson… talking about something else… And then he started talking about n***s online… He like, man, ‘what can you do to fix it with Gilbert’… I say… ‘he don’t want to fix it,'” Brown recalled in his YT video. The former Wizard further revealed Allen Iverson later took it upon himself to call Arenas regarding the whole issue.

The reason AI got involved, you ask? Well, Kwame summed it up in his video, “He [Iverson] like everybody, man. He want everybody to be cool.” From what he told further, Iverson believed it all to be one fraternity so everyone should be cool with each other. As for Arenas, it seems Brown could not care less about him, let alone get AI involved to get things resolved. “Gilbert is an insecure little baby… So he can’t stop talking about me,” Kwame said.

On an episode of Gil’s Arena, the 3x All-Star host didn’t hold back when talking about his long-standing feud with Kwame Brown. If you’ve ever wondered what sparked the tension, Arenas shared his perspective. “His problem wasn’t he didn’t have skill. The problem is, he didn’t wanna do nothing. It came to the point where it’s like, I’m afraid to try and fail,” Arenas explained. Ouch, right?

The panel chimed in, agreeing that while many young players in the NBA are headstrong, most still put in the work behind the scenes. But according to Arenas, that wasn’t the case with Kwame. Could the constant whispers about Brown being a bust have played a role?

“Let me translate that to the whole word — ‘bust,'” Rashad McCants jumped in. “It’s a very triggering word to those who didn’t reach the expectations that were put out for them… It’s traumatizing! I know about being called a bust,” he added. McCants surely raised an interesting point. Imagine being labeled a failure every day—how would you cope? For Kwame, it seemed like shutting down might have been his way of dealing with it.

So there’s no exact moment that can be pinpointed to state that started the whole beef. It, however, goes back to their Wizards days when Brown accused Arenas of sabotaging his role on the team. Things got so heated that Brown was suspended during a playoff series. Since then, it’s been a back-and-forth battle.

Will these two ever squash the beef? Who knows—but wouldn’t it be refreshing if they did…. Even if it means getting Allen Iverson involved?
