It is not every day that we see a player go from MVP contention to struggling to find an NBA contract in a matter of a few years. After leading the Boston Celtics to a deep playoff run, followed by a series of injuries, Isaiah Thomas quickly found himself out of the league. Thomas has not played on an NBA team since the 2021–2022 season and has found it difficult to make his return ever since.

As Thomas recently expressed his desire to make his way back to the NBA, the 2x All-Star has now opened his options further by adding the European league to the mix.

After recently being inducted into Washington’s Huskies Hall of Fame, Thomas revealed that he is still staying ready and eyeing a return to the NBA. But Thomas has still not managed to make any NBA team take a chance on him.

Thomas last played for the Charlotte Hornets on a 10-day contract. While his NBA hopes may be getting him nowhere, Thomas recently revealed that he would not be opposed to playing overseas.

A fan asked Thomas on Twitter if he would play in Europe. To this, Thomas replied, “I MIGHT. I want to experience something different at some point.

Although Thomas has not confirmed it, it certainly seems as though he would look into playing in the European League if the opportunity presented itself. But currently, his goal is to get back to the NBA, and he is working towards it every day.

Both Isaiah Thomas and Kemba Walker have a similar story. While the two led their teams in their prime as point guards, injuries derailed their careers after playing for the Celtics. Even Kemba Walker, who is 3 years younger than Thomas and has made two more All-Stars selections than him, has now transitioned over to the Euro League.

While it is not impossible to make a return to the NBA, the chances of Thomas playing like his Celtics days are slim. Even though NBA teams might not be looking forward to signing a 34-year-old guard, there are probably countless teams in the Euro league that would welcome Thomas with open arms.
