Receiving the All-Star honors as a rookie is not everyone’s cup of tea. In the WNBA, only eight players had made it to the All-Star game as a rookie until a few days back. Now it is ten players as Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese have also joined the elite list. One must be a special player to receive the All-Star badge in just half a season. Washington Wizards icon Gilbert Arenas appreciates it. However, he believes Reese still has flaws in her game which he wants the 22-year-old to take action on.
It’s safe to say that this is the first of many All-Star selections that Reese will be getting over the next few years. What the youngster brings to the game might not grab the attention of the fans easily, but veterans like Arenas know how much it means. Anyhow, a few recent lines shared by Arenas do not focus on Reese’s achievements. Rather, it’s a criticism that he has put out so that Reese make her game even more productive.
“Year after year, summer after summer, she’s going to have to work on her offensive side, so her offensive can catch up. Right now she’s just still raw,” said the 3x NBA All-Star. In the 18 games that Reese has played this season, she is averaging 13.2 points with a field goal percentage of just 39.7. She also recently surpassed Candace Parker in most consecutive single-season double-double record with 10. The streak hasn’t stopped yet.

But on the other end, Reese’s offensive game has been criticized often as she struggles with her shooting. Her average field percent stands at 39.7% while beyond the arc reads 0%. But Gilbert Arenas knows the 22-year-old is set to improve as a definate fan of hers; something he showcased as he defended her from social media criticism for her rebounding skills.
Gilbert Arenas and a WNBA star call out the internet for doubting Angel Reese’s rebounding game
In just 18 games, Reese has proved that she is an elite rebounder in the league, arguably the best right now. She is averaging 11.8 rebounds, which includes an average of 4.8 offensive rebounds. Reese tops the league in rebounding. She also has the most rebounds in a game this season with 19. However, the internet brought out an odd case to doubt her skills.
The host of Gil’s Arena shared, “The criticism of Angel is that she is rebounding a lot of her own shots.” Arenas took over, “Somebody posted a video, it was like 2 or 3 times, but there are 6-7 people around her. They’re all trying to grab the rebound and I’m like… Her rebounding is going to be elite.”

LA Sparks guard Lexie Brown who was on the show was on the same page as Arenas. She said, “It’s a skill… She’s high-level at that. That’s exactly what that team needs from her.” Well, an opponent of Reese from the same league is ready to give her flowers. It’s high time the internet was on the same page.
