Former NBA superstar and Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is a multipotentialite: A person who has many interests. While most people would be well versed in regards to his love for basketball, Johnson has placed his keen attention and money in other fields as well. The 5x NBA champion hasn’t just made investments in sports franchises in conventional leagues like the NFL and the WNBA, but the 64-year-old has also marked his presence in the world of Esports and the Metaverse.
Seven years after he acquired an ownership stake in the same, Johnson gave a shoutout to his own Esports team.

The official Twitter handle of Team Liquid recently uploaded a photo. Featuring the top 6 players from its roster, the picture highlighted them in order to announce their qualification into the 2023 World Championship. Selecting the top players from around the world to participate in the iconic League of Legends, the tournament will be held from October 10 to November 19.
A caption accompanied the eye-catching picture. It read, “Back where we belong. We’ll see you in Korea. #Worlds2023”. The tweet caught the attention of the Lakers icon. Johnson joined a few other investors in forming a group titled ‘aXiomatic Gaming’. In 2016, the company acquired a controlling interest in Team Liquid, making the former NBA star an official part of the multiregional Esports organization.
