Michael Jordan‘s influence transcends the limits of the basketball world. MJ is truly a global icon and is revered for his athleticism and winner’s mindset by people from all walks of life. Especially if you’re an athlete: you’d want to replicate what Jordan was able to accomplish.

The 24-year-old Cowboys star Micah Parsons is no different. Parsons has admitted several times that he looks up to Jordan and wants to learn things from him that will help him get better as an athlete.

The iconic campaign, ‘I want to be like Mike‘ is more than just an advertisement, it’s what people actually want to be. Recently, Parsons talked about the Michigan Wolverines vs Washington Huskies game where the Wolverines were the winner. Jordan was in attendance in that game along with some other high-profile celebrities like Travis Scott. Reacting to the pictures from their VIP suite, Parsons said, “This is a hell of a suite. I mean…there’s so much Hall of Fame and greatness in that suite, I wish I was in that suite.”

The 24-year-old then went on to talk about Jordan, someone he wishes to meet someday. He said, “I mean, I’m dying to meet Michael Jordan on just the mentality perspective, or how he came into every week, how he proved his greatness every day.”

Parsons said that Jordan and the late great Kobe Bryant are his favorite athletes ever. “Him and Kobe are one of my favorite athletes ever. When it comes to mentality and grit”. The youngster is learning the trades of the world of sports from arguably two of the greatest athletes to ever play a sport.

This is not the first time when Parsons has spoken about drawing inspiration from the GOATs. In September 2022, when he was feeling a little under the weather, but Monday Night Football was coming up, he posted a clip of the iconic 1997 Flu Game of Michael Jordan. The 24-year-old often refers to MJ as his idol and once even used his example after an average game.

He said, “I had an OK game and we won. But I don’t think Michael Jordan would ever be OK with dropping 15 points and they won … I should have a higher expectation for myself”. Parsons is definitely on the right path. The only thing left for him to do is meet his idol. That might just light a fire under him to go for nothing but greatness.
