Most stories in the NBA carry a similar narrative when talking about how they reached the league. Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom shared a similar story, but only up until high school, when he was cited in a sting. Encountering a tumultuous time with his grandmother now, the 43-year-old has pledged to do good with his hard-earned fortune.

Drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1999, Odom earned his success mostly in the Purple and Gold. Winning 2 championships and a 6th Man of the Year award, Odom became quite the fan favorite during his time with the?Lakers. Now worth over $40 million, Lamar Odom has overcome multiple personal issues over the years.

TMZ Sports recently revealed that Lamar Odom would be expanding his business portfolio as he aimed to find affordable living for seniors in California. Inspired by his grandmother, Odom recently partnered with Regency Palms Senior Living, in a bid to start Odom Senior Care.

According to Lamar, the aim behind this venture is to provide affordable and luxurious care for seniors, as today’s landscape provides nothing of that sort.

It was revealed that Odom had come up with the idea after he ran into some obstacles when trying to find a new home for his grandma. Now 96, Florence Odom (Lamar’s grandmother) has lived in the Bronx for the past 70 years. When trying to move her to a new home, Lamar faced quite a lot of difficulties, concluding that adequate senior living was just too expensive.

Having already purchased 2 facilities in SoCal, Lamar’s ultimate goal is to provide pre-negotiated deals to seniors in more than 1,000 communities. While motivated in his approach, the goal is quite audacious. But with the former Lakers star pledging to inject more cash from his $40 million net worth, the project could be up and running by the end of this year.

Lamar Odom’s business ventures that make him worth $40 million

Earning well over $100 million dollars during his 14 years in the NBA, Lamar Odom was quite successful in the league compared to many colleagues. Odom was also a part of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians‘, which paid him handsomely, until his divorce from Khloe. Lamar lost all his earnings in the mid-2010s after a series of gambling and drug addictions. But the 6’10 forward is still worth $40 million to this day.

This is mainly due to Lamar’s various endeavors after his recovery, including his role on the tv show ‘Big Brother’. Another reason behind Lamar’s prosperity is the success of his rehabilitation center ‘Odom Recovery Group‘. Having helped thousands, including his close friend Bam Marega in their road to recovery, the group has helped Odom make more business ventures like the one mentioned above.
