While delivering his acceptance speech, Dwyane Wade talked about his daughter Zaya. He said, “Zaya, as your father, all I’ve wanted to do is to get it right. I’ve sat back and watched how gracefully you’ve taken on the public’s scrutiny. And even though it’s not easy, I watched you walk out of that house every morning as yourself. I admire how you’ve handled the ignorance in our world. I admire it that you face every day. To say that your village is proud of you is an understatement. Thank you for showing me that there’s more than just one way to communicate effectively.”

Wade’s love for his daughter speaks louder than words. Back in 2021, he sold his Miami mansion and moved to California. When he spoke with the Showtime’s Headliners, he confessed that it was because his family might not be accepted in Florida. All these actions reflect just one message: a father’s love can go to any extent to protect their child, and Wade doesn’t seem to fall off the line. And his support for Zaya doesn’t end there.

To provide a safe space for people like his daughter, the Wade Foundation launched the ‘Translatable’. It is an online community that supports the growth and mental well-being of LGBTQIA individuals by igniting more conversations, leading to greater understanding and acceptance. And the inspiration?
