Despite winning numerous accolades throughout his NBA career, the late Kobe Bryant proudly boasted about being a Girl Dad the most. For the Lakers legend, his family and daughters always came first. His pride and joy at being a girl dad inspired people, especially after ESPN anchor Elle Duncan shared a heartwarming story of Bryant with the fans.

Once again, the sports anchor paid tribute to the 5x NBA champion as she spoke about the ‘girl dad’ movement which was sparked by the Black Mamba, earning Vanessa Bryant’s approval. “It was Kobe who not only said those words but really backed them up with how he lived, using his cachet to amplify women in this space, so they can be seen and heard and shared,” said Elle Duncan in a clip.

Touched by the tribute, Vanessa Bryant reshared the post on her Instagram, and it received some beautiful comments from fans. Kobe Bryant’s heartwarming love and support for his daughters and the ‘girl dad’ movement went viral just days after the passing of Bryant, his daughter Gianna along with seven others in an accident in 2020.

Gianna and Kobe Bryant were heading to the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks at the time. While the whole world was mourning their passing in January of 2020, Elle Duncan came forward to share a story about the Los Angeles Lakers star that inspired her. The sports anchor spoke about the time when she had an opportunity to interview the legend.

During their conversation, Duncan shared about her pregnancy with Bryant and revealed that she was having a girl. In response, the 18x All-Star congratulated her and described his joy of being the dad to his lovely girls. He mentioned that he would gladly have five more daughters if possible.

“I would have five more girls if I could. I’m a girl dad,” said Bryant during his interview with Duncan. It was only a few moments after Duncan shared the touching story that proud girl dads from all over the world started to post wholesome pictures of them with their daughters on social media with a hashtag of girl dad.

While Duncan was touched by Kobe Bryant’s words and wanted to share the inspiring story with the world, she was hesitant about it at first. She felt that it was a very personal and special moment for his family. However, she was convinced to share the story which ended up creating a huge addition to the legacy of the late Lakers legend. Ultimately, the movement also got official approval from Bryant’s wife Vanessa.
