Dennis Rodman‘s return to the United Center is a long-awaited one. The Chicago Bulls icon couldn’t make it to the Ring of Honor ceremony a few months back, for which he expressed remorse on his social media. However, the 5x champion is back in the home arena for Bulls vs. Wizards and fans made sure he got a warm welcome. The former NBA DPOY tried to control his tears, but the emotions got the best of him. 

Although Rodman played only 3 seasons with the Bulls, his defensive and rebounding excellence helped Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to complete their second three-peat. The Bulls fans have never missed a chance to celebrate these historic three years with Rodman. Now in his return, the 62-year-old got the same love from the audience which teared him up. 

Rodman shared to the fans, “What do I say man? Thank you”, as his voice shrilled. Even before he could add a few more words, the tears started to drop out. Well, love is always in the air for ‘The Worm’. Rodman was emotional when he couldn’t join the Ring of Honor too.

The Chicago Bulls’ inaugural ‘Ring of Honor’ ceremony took place at the United Center on January 12 this year. MJ, Scottie Pippen, and Rodman were expected to come, but they did not turn up. However, Rodman’s case was different. Unforeseen conditions prevented him from making a return to his den. 

Dennis Rodman was emotional for missing the inaugural ‘Ring of Honor’ 

Rodman’s journey to Chicago was canceled because of dangerous weather conditions. It was totally unexpected. He did not have a choice but to stay home. However, he shared a video with the fans who were waiting for him in the arena. The 62-year-old shared, “Hey, Chicago, Dennis Rodman here. This is a sad day and a good day. I tried to come in, I wanted to really bad. But I guess the weather has prevented me from coming to Chicago. I can’t even talk, I’m getting emotional again because you guys know me.”

He also took this as an opportunity to thank his former coach Phil Jackson, and former teammates Jordan and Pippen. His final message was, “To Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, all the guys, I love all of them. I love everybody. Thank you guys so much. Keep me in your prayers and your hearts, especially the heart of Chicago.”

You could feel how badly he missed taking part in the event.
