The significance of 21st July is much more than any other year. The reason? Two of the biggest movies of the year are releasing that day. Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, is all set for a clash with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. While several fans are debating over which movie to go for, the ex-Los Angeles Lakers star already has his mind blown by the $100 million project.

Even though we still have 11 days to go before the release of the movie, the Lakers star got a glimpse of it through screening. However, the question among the fans remains the same, which one to go for first? But the ex-reality TV star doesn’t seem to be bothered by the dilemma as he showers praise for the movie.

Metta Sandiford-Artest is impressed by the Margot Robbie movie

Artest is a 43-year-old ex-NBA champion. He has gone by multiple names till now. He was Ron Artest until 2011, then he changed his name to Metta World Peace which was around from 2011 to 2020. Now, the ex-NBA star goes by the name of Metta Sandiford-Artest. It is not just his name that he kept changing. Artest also switched between eight different teams while he was active as an athlete. Artest won the NBA championship with the Lakers in 2010 and was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2004. However, that is not all the success he has had in his career.

In 2006, he released his rap album, titled My World, which had features from some of the most notable names in the industry: P Diddy and Capone. Apart from a short-lived rap career, Artest also tried his luck on TV. He featured on two of the biggest TV shows Celebrity Big Brother and Dancing with the Stars. Artest got eliminated from the shows in 20 days and the first week, respectively. He recently tweeted about the upcoming Barbie movie. Impressed by the $100 million project, Artest wrote, The new @Barbie movie with Margot Robbie is pretty cool.”

While the NBA champion showed that he was impressed, fans were jealous in the replies as they still have to wait for the official worldwide release of the much-awaited movie.

Metta Sandiford-Artest is a social activist

Artest is not just an accomplished athlete and a popular performer, he has also used his platform and reach for the greater good. Especially his role in the mental health awareness programs.

In fact, in a grand gesture, Artest decided to donate all his salary from the 2011-12 season in the NBA to mental health awareness charities. He has also worked for PETA for the protection of animals from abuse.
