Shaquille O’Neal loves to eat and is a huge McDonald’s fan. However, after getting a strict warning from his doctor, Big Aristotle opted for a more healthy diet. But it seems the Los Angeles Lakers legend still wasn’t able to let go of his love for one particular thing. It’s the American food company, Waffle House. Just recently, the Lakers legend stumbled upon some kids during one of his commercial shoots for the house.

Intrigued by seeing the 4x Champion in an apron for the popular eatery, one of the kids asked him about his Waffle House order, “Can I know your waffles order?” In response, O’Neal said, “It’s two sausages, biscuits with cheese, eight scrambled eggs with cheese, and one waffle.”

The kids appeared shocked as they heard his remark about 8 scrambled eggs totaling up to about 2830 calories, and one of them even repeated the remark in disbelief. Considering how the 7-foot legend has followed a strict diet to reach 325 pounds over the last year, a bit of indulgence in a healthy Waffle House treat is understandable.

What encouraged Shaquille O’Neal to change his diet?

O’Neal’s prowess on the court is well-known to many. The Los Angeles Lakers legend has won 4 NBA championship titles and also owns numerous businesses in the food industry. Last year, he expanded the reach of his food chain business, ‘Big Chicken’.

However, after all these years, it took just one stern word from his doctor to make a complete change in his diet. In an interview with GQ, O’Neal shared that his doctor warned him about the risks posed by his unhealthy diet in early 2022. “When they hit you with that three-letter word that starts with D and ends with E, it changes stuff up,” O’Neal said. He was already dealing with some health issues. Now, the 4x NBA Champion follows a more healthy diet. He shared that he likes to have five meals a day, but only nutritious food is included in his diet.

“I eat a healthy breakfast just to hold me for the day, three turkey sausages and about four or five egg whites. Meal two is gonna be some fruit. Meal three is gonna be a shake and fruit. Meal four is probably gonna be a light salad, and then meal five is gonna be chicken, fish, or steak,” O’Neal said in the same interview. Along with a healthy diet, the Champ also follows strict and regular gym sessions. While he still loves McDonald’s and doesn’t mind a cheat treat once in a while, Shaq is likely to stick to his healthy food diet.
