The 40th-anniversary celebration of the MTV Video Music Awards saw a spectacular lineup of artists, from Eminem and Katy Perry to Sabrina Carpenter and Shawn Mendes, all having stunning performances. Moreover, lighting up the stage, the host for the night, Megan’s energy and enthusiasm were contagious, powering up the entire event. The energy and excitement were so infectious that it went beyond the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, reaching as far as Miami, to Gabrielle Union and her sister, Tracy. The two sent a special message to the rapper as well.
Gabrielle and Tracy Union paid homage to the rapper, grooving to one of her hit songs, “Mamushi“. Before replicating the smooth, sharp choreography of Megan’s performance, the Union sisters declared they were ready! “Somebody tell Megan we ready,” Union captioned the clip on her IG story.
Ready to groove to even more of her hits, such as “Hiss,” “Rattle,” and many others from her latest album, Megan, perhaps? Apart from her hosting gig, the rapper also snagged an award for the most trending song with “Mamushi” and took home another award for Best Art Direction in “BOA.” To her followers, Union asked, “Did me @t-to-the-u made @thestallion proud?” The two surely did.

Since it was the 40-year celebration, there was some nostalgic flair to the evening as well. Holding a snake for a few seconds, Megan also paid tribute to Britney Spears’ iconic 2001 performance of Slave 4 U in 2001. “I love New York, I can’t wait to be there again and eat all the food, and I’m excited for people to see what I bring to the table while hosting,” Megan told People Magazine. Nonetheless, Gabrielle Union admiring the 29-year-old rapper is nothing new.
