As the United States is getting ready for another important presidential election, the call for civic duty is resonating across the country. This time around it is not only the political analysts and activists that have topped the campaigns, but now people from the sports background are also coming out to urge the people to go out and vote.
In a striking move, “The Translatable Project” has taken to their Instagram to share a video featuring NBA veteran Dwyane Wade. “Today is National Voter Registration Day! Take a moment to register now, it’s easy and it matters,” read the caption. Translatable through Wade’s voice wanted to make an impact so that people take their time to register themselves as voters on the Pride to the Poles website. Wade’s daughter, Zaya Wade, shared this video on her Instagram story, thus sharing the message with more.
Zaya Wade was welcomed by Wade and his first wife, Siohvaughn Funches on May 29, 2007. She surprised everyone in 2020 when just at 12 years of age she identified herself as transgender. But that didn’t resulted in a different treatment from her parents. Moreover her dad and step mom have been quite supportive towards her and also helped her out when she revealed herself as transgender. “As parents, we put our hopes and we put our fears on our kids. With Zaya, we decided to listen to her. And she’s walking us on the journey,” said Dwyane Wade during an interview with Good Morning America. Initially, she was trolled for her decision but now has garnered a lot of support towards her. She is currently working as an influencer and model and is making waves by her appearances in Paris Fashion Weeks and also as a model for many brands like Tiffany & Co.

The platform “Translatable” was jointly released by Dwyane Wade and his daughter Zaya to create a safer and more comfortable space for the LGBTQ+ community. The platform also aimed to educate parents and family members about sensitive matters so that they can communicate with their loved ones easily.
In May just before the pride month, launched the platform with Zaya sharing a message on her social media. “Happy Pride month. This month is not only a celebration, but also a time to honor how far we’ve come. And let’s not forget how far we have to go. This month, I encourage you to celebrate you. Who you are, who you’re becoming, and who you ultimately want to be. So let’s join in community and hold space for everyone. Again, happy Pride month,” shared Zaya in the video.
