Zaya Wade's confidence is inspiring—Is she the most influential young voice in sports families today?

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s youngest child, Kaavia, has earned her “Shady Baby” nickname. From her mean mugging her mother over vacation plans to her hilariously telling her that she needs to brush her teeth, this little one knows how to make a statement. Who can forget, when she sang a really “mean” song to her mother back in February, leaving the actress surprised?

The five-year-old is also a strict taskmaster as we discovered when the former NBA player revealed that she took charge of choreography and styling for an adorable family dance performance posted on Instagram earlier this year. Now, Kaavia was at it again, this time her sassy attitude was aimed directly at her mom, leaving Union determined to earn her approval once again after receiving it during her and Wade’s recent anniversary celebration.

Gabrielle Union took to her Instagram Story to share a playful clip of her and her sister, Tracy, practicing Megan Thee Stallion’s latest hit, “Mamushi.” While they attempted to match the smooth, sharp choreography, there was one person behind their success: none other than little Kaavia!

In the clip, Kaavia was seen schooling both her mom and aunt on how to nail the moves. Union even acknowledged the hilarious moment with the caption, “@kaaviajames said ‘If you want fame, fame costs and right here is where you start pooing with our pride’ 😂😂😂”.

And did Kaavia’s lessons pay off? Absolutely! Just a few days ago, Union proudly posted their uncut performance on her Instagram Story. With the caption, “Somebody tell Meg we ready,” it was clear that Union was feeling confident. Interestingly enough, it was her sister, Tracy Union, who convinced her to tackle Megan Thee Stallion’s famous “Mamushi” dance in the first place.

Speaking of Tracy, Gabrielle Union has two sisters: Kelly and Tracy. While Kelly keeps a relatively low profile, Tracy seems to be more private about her personal life, with just over 22,000 Instagram followers. Despite this, she’s clearly a key part of Gabrielle’s life—and now her dance crew too.

But for Gabrielle Union, the moment was all about her daughter. Kaavia, as mentioned earlier, likes to keep it real. Two years ago when she learned her parents were going on a vacation without her, she was seen mean mugging her mother in a video on Instagram shared by Gabrielle.

Then in a 2022 live Instagram video session, Kaavia hinted that Gabrielle should take care of her bad breath. She indicated that by blowing into her hand which prompted her mother to ask, “My breath stinks?” to which Kaavia simply replied, “Yeah.” If this isn’t enough, we have got more.

In February, Gabrielle shared a video of her daughter transforming from a baby into her 5-year-old self. Kaavia then performed a cheeky little song for her mother. Before the song, Union asked Kaavia, “What’s the song about?” She replied, “It’s about leave me alone. It’s a really mean song,” before bursting into a lyrical tune.

The lyrics were, “I don’t want you to stay with me ‘cause you’re really bored. You hate me every day ‘cause you’re so nasty and bored. … Just leave me alone. … Bye, bye, bye.” “Wow, that is not really nice, she was heard saying afterward. Well, her mother agreed and captioned the video,Caught a stray and landed in my feelings 😩,” the actress said of her daughter’s song in the caption. “ … then she asked for her masters.”

However, Kaavia isn’t always sassy, she can be emotional too. Just days earlier, during their 10th wedding anniversary, Gabrielle Union gave Dwyane Wade a gift that touched not only him but their daughter as well.

Kaavia witnesses Union’s heartfelt tribute to Wade

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary, and it was nothing short of special. Not only did the couple bask in the love they’ve built over the past decade, but their biggest fan—daughter Kaavia—was right there to witness the beautiful tribute, filled with love, emotion, and a bit of “Shady Baby” charm.

In an effort to make the day even more memorable, the Miami Heat legend’s wife went the extra mile by taking singing lessons to perform Shania Twain’s classic, You’re Still the One, for Wade. And, according to the reactions, she absolutely nailed it. Sharing the heartfelt moment on Instagram, Union wrote, “Whenever anyone asks me what I want as a gift, I always say ‘effort.’ So this year, I wanted to show him how much he means to me, with loving effort. Cuz, he’s STILL the one 💖.”
